Our wedding coordinator said exactly that. You can either pay $300 to buy off the resort's photographer, or you can pay for the photographer to stay for 2 nights in which case he would be considered "a guest." I think if you pay the $300, you're still going to have to pay for guest passes (which will cover the typical obligation to pay for a meal for your photographer). So might be less $$ ultimately to pay for the extra room. And have the benefit of an extra room. Well... I guess how much a room costs also depends on what time of year you'll be at the barcelo!

But it really is an either/or option. I think there was a change in policy about a year ago. The change in policy and the either/or option are what I think created the confusion...

Hi ladies...

Anyone have pictures of the places we can have receptions/dinners after the wedding ceremony? I have heard from this forum there is a location on the beach, by the pool, and the grill.

Can anyone provide me with pics? My wedding coordinator hasn't responded in a while ... there is no rush i am just anxious!!

PINA13: there is a unoffical barcelo forum if you google it.  when you go on it on the right hand side under "photos" there are pictures of all of the resturants there also is one other location called "playa azul" which is like a covered outside location it kinda looks like a long rectangle tiki hut it's super cute, this is where i'm getting married!!

playa azul location

Wow! Thank you so much for the pictures...they all look amazing.

How do you pick which one to choose?

Do you think it will be too chilly/windy in January? I don't want my guests to have to eat sand with their dinner....and have their hair blowing in the faces.

Hmm...

Opinions??

what day in january are you getting married??

it depends what you want, i wanted BEACH wedding so i wanted to be on the BEACH! not in an open air grill or anything i wanted the beach! lol.....keeping in mind IF you want a beach wedding then you have to pay a minimum of 3040 for the strawberry package. so it's really up to you.. all the open air grill are beautiful as well as banquet halls but i wanted to hear the ocean and waves etc. so just think about whats important to you and go from there.. i also am concidering fire dancers and i think having the outside location would be perfect for that...

good luck let us know what you decide!

Claudia (my WC) said that nights in  January can be chilly, so she recommended a banquet room for the reception. That's what we've decided, so hopefully it turns out well!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
