No, I did not have to sign a contract. Once I had paid the deposit on the trip to my Travel Agent, she faxed a copy of the travel manifest to Victoria at the resort and this is when she confirmed the wedding date. After that, all correspondance was through emails. I did not have to sign anything until I paid for the trip at the resort. As you get closer to your date, I would say it was about 2-3 months prior, Victoria began to email me more frequently asking for my choices for the wedding packages, foods etc,....Until that time, there was not much communication b/w the resort and I unless I had a question or a picture I wanted to send Victoria for decorations etc..:)

My wedding is 12 days away. I am leaving in 5 days. I still can't really get any answers from my WC (Claudia)

I know it'll be fine and fabulous and it'll all work out and I'm trying not to stress but there are just a few important things that I need to know before I go...

If anyone can answer, I'd be forever grateful :)

We are doing strawberry passion package..

i still don't know the location of my ceremony/reception .. I know it's on the beach but my questions for the past few months have gone unanswered as to location. Is this normalhuh.gif How do I tell my guests where to be for the wedding, when I don't even know it myself?

DJ - I want to do a DJ. .which they list as $540 for 2 hours. I want to have the DJ for the whole 3 hours but I can't get a response on that price... has anyone used their DJ ?? Are they good? Worth it?

Music -- I want to bring down my "special" songs but I'm unsure about the format -- MP3, on a CD, etc. Anyone know how I should bring down my songs?

For the cocktail hour, we want to have music but just play our own.. I don't own an iPod.. can I use a different MP3 player and what cords might I need?

Spa - does anyone have confirmed appointments? I sent in the information to Claudia but I haven't gotten any confirmation that they are booked

Payments - who needs to be paid in cash vs on a credit card?? I'm not using the resort photographer, so is it just the officiant? I can't seem to get a response to that either.

Thanks ladies.... SO stressed out right now!!!

I would love this information too. I'm struggling with my programs because I can't seem to get a response from my WC

It's not like I can design and print them once in Mexico....

Aww thank you, you have been a great help. I was a little concerned. I know i have over 10months to go but some of the other 2011 brides have signed things already. I guess all hotels are different. Victoria is our WC and seems really nice i'm sure it will all go OK once we are there :o)

Hi Ladies,

Just got married there last week so hope I can answer some questions. First of all, I know it's hard but I will echo and say that they are super busy and try to get back to you as soon as possible. Once you arrive, you will meet with your WC the next day and you can sort out all the details, including location. However, if you already have a location in mind, you can probably confirm that in advance but once you get there you can actually see all the options.

We had DJMannia so not sure of the cost, but I'm sure you can add on an extra hour once you are there. All our music as mp3 format but again, you might want to double check. Or better yet, bring both formats :)

Re: music - will you have a laptop? That might work as well since it's an earphone jack (again, double check - this info is from my tech savvy hubby)

Spa - This is their email address. They respond quickly and can confirm your appointments: reservas_bodylight_spa@yahoo.com.mx

Not sure about officiant since we had our own but if you get the mariachi band, they are to be paid in cash ($400).

I was also super stressed out but they are really organized once you get there and took care of everything. We even had to change our location day of because it was really windy at Playa Azul but I was set on having it outside so Claudia took my FI (I was busy getting ready) and went out to find a new location. Turned out great.

Any questions? Please ask :) Everyone was really helpful so I'll do my best!

Regarding the music- my hubby brought his Sony MP3 player and it worked fine with their equipment. He says it was attached to their equipment via a 2.5mm audio cable. As far as special songs- I would probably put them on your MP3 player... I think they had the cord there.

We paid cash for the mariachi band ($400) and the minister ($300). The rest was paid via credit card (in retrospect we wish we would have paid via travelers checks since we ended up having to pay the foreign transaction fee credit cards charge).

Regarding spa appts- I wouldn't worry about this at all. Claudia made the appts for hair (for 3 people), massage, makeup, and manicure/pedicure the day we met with her to plan the wedding and we had no problems getting in at all.

We went with a nonlegal, symbolic ceremony performed by a minister... I think that would be the best route to go if you're writing your own vows. The minister seemed very flexible- one of our relatives is a Deacon and the minister allowed him to give a special blessing during our ceremony.

We are able to have a nonlegal Interactive Blessing Ceremony?? Am I getting this lingo correct?

If so, do we have to option between a JOP or a minister?

Anyone who had this type of ceremony, do you have any suggestions at to which one to choose. We wrote our own vows.

17 days until the big day:)

Thank you so much!!!

I have a question - has anyone done, or will you be doing a TTD session at the Barcelo? Where would be a good location for this and at what time? We are thinking the morning after the wedding somewhere on the beach. I would love to see any photos if someone has done a TTD on the beach there :)

We are using the resort photographers and they said they would be able to take the pictures for us the next day!! YAY!

We had a modified TTD! I got into the water some, but hubby stayed on the beach and in the rocks just off the beach. We did our photos the morning after at around 6:30 AM. Some of the locations were on the Coral beach, on the rocks just outside of the coral grill. Also on the beach in this area as there were not many people out at that time. .. We also took some on the small cliffs in this area. We took some around the adult pool as well, in the bali beds and such. We didn't make it down to the pier by the Colonial, but I did see some photos my photog took of another couple and they were really good. There is also a dive shop there that looked reallly good in some of the pics! I don't have my pics yet, but will post a link when they come in...
Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
