YAY! Exciting Maegan!! Bet you're so excited. :)

Diamondpooch - I am assuming that those are the flags they have on the beach at all times that let people know whether or not to swim. If the water is really rough, they will put up a red flag which means do not swim. The other ones I can't really remember the colors... I think that's what you saw in the pics. What color was the flag? If that is what you saw, then yes they're always there.

And holy smokes! A fire?? Was it at the Palace? Crazy!

Cara, no, they are HUGE flags, and like six to eight of them. they look sort of like this, but no printing on them, just different colors.

Yes, the fire was at the Palace! I'm sure they fixed it quickly as it was just the thatched roof (luckily the building was made of stone). We have pictures of the fire!

Also, she told me about the fire there that week! Someone flicked a cigarette off a public balcony onto a thatched roof and the whole thing blew up in flames!
LOL Jacqui!
That fire happened the night of my wedding! I didn't get to see it, most of our party had retired for the night by then, but my MIL saw it! Luckily it was just the thatched roof but I heard it was quite a spectacle!!! I have a pic of it from the next day.. I wrote about it in my review, however, when I went to post the review, something must have happened because the whole thing disappeared. It took so long to write it I haven't tried again, thought I would wait until I got some more pics as I only have one on my personal camera from the whole wedding...sad.gif BTW, they had the roof fixed within a couple days, before we left on the 3rd of june... Oh, and it wasn't anyone from my wedding who caused it..LOL!
The flags were not there for any of the beach weddings I saw routinely that week. They may have been something special brought by the bride or something new the WC's are offering...

Just to answer a question on the last page, I was at the Barcelo in February and I could NOT fit my laptop into the safe. i have a 17" laptop and it was no where near close to fitting.

Ha! I highly doubt anyone is actually going to confess to being the one who flicked the cigarette. IDK how my FIL's even found out that's what caused the fire. I know it wasn't them cuz they don't smoke! LOL. I'm gonna try and get a pic of those flags from them so I can post them or send them to Claudia and figure out where they came from. I really like them. Then again, the plan now is to have an open air reception, not a beach reception. Where was yours? Can you suggest the best/better place? So bummed your review deleted sad.gif That really stinks. I've been waiting for it!

Ladies- Does anyone have a detailed description of the step by step order of the ceremony? I am trying to make my program for our legal ceremony. However, Xhail has not returned any of our emails for the past 2 weeks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! =)

Jacqui-

True, True, I wouldn't own up if it were me, But we don't smoke either! I don't know who told my MIL about it being caused by a cig either, but she said it was quite a sight!!! At least they both heard the same story. My MIL said she was on the beach and heard all this commotion. When she turned around there were all these people running and yelling into walkie talkies and throwing buckets of water from the Carey Bar. Then this little fire truck came driving down the sidewalk. She said it looked like it had been built on to a golf cart! :) At least if there is an emergency, people react quickly !!!! So are you looking to have the reception in one of the grills then or poolside?? Our was actually in a banquet room which I originally didn't think I would like, but to be honest by the time we finished with photos and it was time for the reception to start I was so ready to be out of the heat and away from mosquitoes that I was actually glad we went that route..I think I just might be a little sensitive to the heat and I didn't have a "beachy" dress. As far as outside locations, the pools are all really nice at the Palace and think a poolside reception would have been beautiful although I didn't get to see any in person. The grills are fun to, The coral grill is beautiful, but Victoria had told me they only hold large receptions, over 100 people in that grill, but I don't know if that is true year roundhuh.gif Worth asking at least, it is the most beautiful of all the open air grills on the property. I guess my third choice would be the Palmeras grill. It is quite spacious and the next grill closest to the Palace property. Just a few steps away from the Oaxaca building. I did get to see a reception in there and it seemed nice..If you have any other questions I can help with, please ask and I'll try to get that review going soon! I'm dying for some teaser pics at least!!!!

Hey diamondpooch! Oh, I definitely didn't see any kind of flags like that on the beach. Maybe they were brought by the bride?

We also didn't want a beach reception, and I'm SO glad we didn't have one because it was so windy the night of our wedding, sand woudl've been all in our food. We had our reception in the Palmeras grill and I loved it, they did a beautiful job of decorating it, and it had a nice breeze blowing through which everyone said they loved because we were all baking!! Lol

We had our recpetion at the palmeras grill and it was really beautiful. I agree, Coral grill was my first choice but, they told me the same, it was only for super large parties. If you walk in Palmeras grill any day its nothing super special but saw a few weddings there before mine and thought it looked nice from the outside looking in. But, on the actual day of- it was PERFECT. They kind of close you in to only one side of the restaurant so it feels more intimate and they decorate everything so pretty. The chairs with sashes and the tables with runners. I paid extra for rose petals to be spread on the tables and just used the centerpieces that came with the package, and they added "crytal" like beads spread on the tables as well. It really looked so nice all done up. Best part was not having to worry about a thing for set up and being totally taken away when i saw how everything came together.

As for the lap top question- mine is like 15 inches, it fit just right in the safe but i had so much other stuff in there it wasnt worth keeping it there so i brought a lock for my suitcase and kept that locked in there. I thought the "free upgrade" room (which ended up being ocean view) was going to come with free wi-fi but, it didnt. wi-fi is $12/per day or if you go to the "office" its $3 for 15mins, and you can print for free.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
