Laura4ever - small world ah? Great minds think alike! How funny!

hello- we too are having an at home reception after our wedding (Jan 20 2011)..its hard to then decide what package!! it seems the 'free' one is limited to early time of the day..we may lean towards Blueberry as well.

Thx. I will try to be patient then..
Do you know if July 4 is a popular date? and how early in advance should u hold a date? which package did u went with? and how was the beach overall? were there a lot of kids around?
I'm not sure if July 4th is a popular date or not, but I know it is a heavily traveled day/weekend. I would assume that it is hot as heck in Mexico in July though. We had our wedding date held in July/August and was confirmed once our travel was booked and confirmation sent to the resort (September or October). We went with the Strawberry Passion package and it was just great! Our ceremony was on the Coral beach and the reception in the Palmaris Grill. The beach was phenomenal, a little rocky in spots, but beautiful. There were not a lot of kids around. There is a kids area and we stayed far away from that :)

Thnx i'm trying to be patient too, but trying to get a direct answer through email is hard......
We arrived on Saturday and there were at least 2 weddings on that day. We had the Strawberry Passion package which covered everything we needed. I would not recommend getting your makeup done at the resort, the woman who did my makeup first made me look like a $2 hooker, needless to say, the makeup came off and was done a little less "dramatic."

If your date is only on hold, it may take longer to get answers. Once your date is confirmed, they will respond a little quicker.

Hope this helps!

Monica,

I think I read on an earlier post that you got married at 6:45pm? I am getting married on May 28th at 6pm and was wondering if you felt like you had enough daylight left to do pictures? I am starting to worry now that maybe I should have done it earlier??

Thanks!

Ashley

MrsC-to-Be - it's hard knowing what is the right package isn't it.... I think we will go with Blueberry and just add hair, flowers on etc! I'm not sure were our reception meal will be held with this package though? Maybe one of the buffets.....Let me know what you decide on. So much to think about!

amynjoe - Thanks for letting me know! And the tip on the makeup. I dont wear alot of makeup normally so would hate to have loads slapped on, on the day! I may just do my own or get one of the girls to do it.... Did you use the resort hairdresser? How were they? It's been a week now since i heard from the resort and i'm trying to be patient. I'm probably just to eager, lol....

Michelle,
Lucky you, it has been 2 weeks that I haven't heard anything from Barcelo. I would choose the Strawberry package (if I end up with Barcelo), the hairdresser seems to be fine there (from the pics I saw on this forum), except she may put tons of hairspray (from others' reviews). I guess I will do my own makeup, as I had horrible experiences with some makeup artists who tried to put smoky eyes on my asian eyes, and I looked like a panda!

Oh god maybe i should stop moaning then hee hee!

That's good to know the hairdresser is good. I have something in mind so will just take some photos along with me :o)

Oh dear, i'm not really a makeup person so like you will probably do my own. The last thing you want on your wedding day is to feel uncomfortable! So will defo avoid the Barcelo makeup lady lol

Oh, and you DEFINITELY want a TON of hairspray. It's windy, and if you don't make your hair FULL of hairspray, it will not hold! So it's a good thing they spray that much. Trust me!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
