oh my goodness, i'm having this problem right now! we (my mom and i) have been trying to get a finalized guest list for the at home reception from his family for almost a month...and still we have nooooo list. i know it's almost done because i've seen it, but we have to address all of the invitations so they can be sent out in time....but the fiance thinks that it won't be a "big deal". ha. smile105.gif

same stance on his and his GM attire - he's so laid back, and thinks it'll probably get done like magic. oh my....

haha, so basically, i feel your pain! on that note: welcome!!! elefant.gif

Yeah, the men don't quite understand the "planning ahead" concept. I asked Bill a couple of weeks ago whether or not we should take any pre-marital counceling... he said, what for? Let's have a counceling session right now, and every Sunday night. It was actually really cute- and during the discussion we talked about the top 3 things we want to work on in our relationship- making plans was on that list. We are working on that. So we are going to pick a day this week to work on wedding stuff. Even for a couple of hours so I don't lose my mind:-) We need to register, pick out GM attire (we did try once and failed) and pick out his suit, pick our menus and eventually book our honeymoon to BC.

PS I LOVE you girls, you are my sanity when I feel like I am falling way behind!

Hey ladies, I just got a phone call that our invites are in! I'm so excited, hopefully they turned out the way I have them in my head.

I know how everyone feels about the FI not getting it! My FI has only asked two of his brother-in-laws to be in the wedding. He really needs to ask the others but he just hasn't. he keeps talking about but not acting on it. I have six bridesmaids so it might be a bit strange with only two GM. He could easily ask my brother and brother in law who are going if he feels weird about asking friends. I don't get what the hold up is and he can't seem to get his act together. can't really go shopping for their outfits if he hasn't asked them!

I'm sitting across from my FI right now. In general, he has been pretty good- helping put together the SODs, picking out his suit, etc., but he hasn't asked his Best frined to be his BM yet! When I ask him when this is going to happen, he says Christmas! I just threatened that I'm going to ask for him wink.gif, and I told him him I was writing about it- he asked if i got a post point- lol. Ah, love :).

KLC77- yes I'm at the PRC- I'll change it on my profile! We're there a couple weeks after you it looks like! We're arriving the Sunday before (the 18th I think). Will you still be around? Who's your photographer?

If it makes you feel any better, my FI wants to have nothing to do with the planning and then tells me that I'm obsessed or that's all I do...well, Hello, I'm doing it all alone!

So basically, he's no help either! LOL

Yeah, I figured the store gave themselves a coushin and I know it's not wedding season so that should help with the speed of things.

I need to get craking on stuff, but lack of funds has been a MAJOR problem. We go to Mexico in a few weeks, so at least after that, we'll have a better sense of how much our wedding is going to actually cost :)

So yesterday FI and I went shopping for an outfit for him to wear to the wedding. He tried on exactly one pair of pants and one shirt before he told me just to order him clothes online. Then we went furniture shopping (something he loves!) To his credit, he did go suit shopping with his dad a couple months ago, but just wasn't feeling the suits.

I ended up ordering him some brown linen pants and a bamboo shirt from Island Importer. Now I'm just crossing my fingers that they look good and he likes them.

Oh boo, I'm leaving the 17th! We have hired Sol Tamargo as our photographer and for a TTD. I'm so excited about having her. It was a huge splurge for us, but the pics are all we'll have after so I wanted to have someone I was in love with shooting them.

My FI has also not yet asked his GM~ my brother~ who he talks to atleast 5 times a day! He says he doesn't want to ask and my bro should just assume he in it. lol I'm just gonna take them both to the store and say buy an outfit for the wedding. Then its done and over with.

WOW- you ladies have your stuff together! I'm sooo glad this thread was created! We are getting married January 17, 2009 at Riu MB.

I'm a little freaked out..

We just picked the location, resort and wedding time/place. I'm waiting on my TA to send me STD's but other than the TA's website with our info, I wasn't planning on sending invitations. I know some of the older family members (who aren't attending!) would want one though.. Urgh!

I'm in the process of looking for a good "beach" dress. Anyone know of a good place to look?

What are you doing about favors for your guests?

So many questions...so many details! smile41.gif

Welcome! It will all come together quickly, dont worry!
I know that Dessy has a collection of beach dresses:

I am wearing a regular wedding dress, just made sure that it wasn't too heavy so I don't faint! You can wear whatever you want! Most bridal botique are carrying destination dresses now. There is a "show us your dress" thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t85 that has a bunch of dressses that us gals on the forum chose and they tell you who the designer is. If you find a designer you like you can Google it and use the Store Locator tool to see where you can find them in your area! Hope this helps.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
