Wow! What busy bees we have been!

So I want to my parents house this weekend... mom and I baked all day yesterday (I know, not going to help the figure!) but we did figure out all of my flowers and decorations for the wedding. We havent bought anything yet, except I have 4 lanterns for tables I have decided to bring with me, even if it is a royal pain! So pretty excited! As I start "creating" I'll post pics... promise! I feel really good now.

Hi Everybody!

I had my surprise wedding shower this past Saturday :). It was so sweet- my BMs and mom and FI planned it and created this ruse to get me out of the house. They decorated the place with tropical flowers, beach stuff, etc. and had everyone wear vacation/beach clothes. It was a lot of fun and I was very touched. I'll post a couple pics if i can figure out how!

I have a question about invitations: What rsvp date is everyone giving? I sent out SODs back in July, and will send a reminder email to book rooms Oct. 1 (the rate is only guaranteed until Oct. 15), so I was viewing the invites as a formality, which we'll be sending out Nov. 1, and was planning on putting December 15 for the rsvp date for my Jan 25 wedding. But I'm thinking maybe I should put December 1, just so I know by then, in case there are any stragglers. The woman at the stationery store is against it (I guess from a strict etiquette standpoint, it's not proper, but I think with a destination wedding, etiquette is more flexible). What do you think? Thanks!!!

I said RSVP by Oct 1... if I know people are looking into it and have reached out to me I let them know they could take more time. But at least I have an idea whether people are serious or not. I'd recommend earlier, for your sanity!

Your shower sounds like it was fun! How exciting!

I think you should also ignore etiquette for the RSVP date. Due to the group booking, etc. we sent out our invites in June with an RSVP date in July - we didn't bother with the STD's and went straight to invites. Based on that, we know who may book last minute and why and who is definitely not coming.

Good luck!

My dress is in! My dress is in!!!! I'll pick it up when I return from Mexico (mini vacation, we leave next thursday for 5 nights :)

As for RSVP dates, ours in Nov. 15...our rooms are being held until the end of Nov, so I figured with an RSVP date of Nov. 15, people will get the idea and move their tushes! I'm sending out the invites within the next 3 weeks

We sent our invites in June, and a deposite deadline for June 30th....there is a chance of a few last minutes people booking, but I'm not holding my breath or stressing over it.

I have ordered my favours for the wedding - I decided on tropical wedding themed mint tins from oriental trading that has our names and the wedding date on it. I will be putting them in indivual little blue boxes that I got a great deal on to fancy them up a bit. I didn't want to give them something they couldn't use and I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on the favours. They should be perfect.

We officially booked our photographer this week and will be submitting the deposit soon. We are using a local photog from Punta Cana who is not from the resort- other DR brides may recognize PhotoSouvenire from the forum.

The BM dresses are now on their way (currently being shipped)which is a relief after all the problems I have had getting them a dress.

We registered over the weekend at our first store. 1 more trip to a different store to do.

I have almost completed the orchid curtain for the ceremony, a few more strings of orchids to add.

I have all the supplies for the guest book, I just have to begin assembling it. We are doing the scrapbook guestbook with the photo and the wishes for the bride and groom...a few other BDW brides have done it.

I am working on the Emergency Kit supplies...we didn't want to fork out the cash for a full on loot bag but I did want to give my guests something to thank them for coming all that way. So we are providing Advil, Immodium, bandaids, aloe, etc.

My 1st bridal shower is this weekend. Yeah!!! I can't wait!

Sorry for the long post but it's been a while and I have done quite a bit in the last week.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
