Today I found Aloe Vera for my OOT bags for 99 cents. I'm thinking I might give up on the sunscreen idea since I assume most people know its going to be sunny in Mexico and bring it themselves. (that's what I'm going to tell myself if I can't find it anyway) lol I have to work on my to-do list this weekend so I know where I am and where I have to go...

Hmmm....And I can't find small aloes ANYWHERE.....If you want sunscreen I was at Wal-Mart yesterday and they still have a ton (it's in the travel isle) If you don't have them at yours, I can send them to you if you want? Where did you get the aloes, because I would really like to add them to the OOT's :) Thanks

I found little 99 cent aloes at this store called Harmon (apparently its a discount beauty supply store). I had never been in there before, but they had a whole aisle of bins with good stuff in them. I found OFF wipes in there too- $4.99 for 12 of them. So I picked those up. I did go to Bed Bath and Beyond after and saw that they had the aloe too. I'm gonna go check out Walmart and see what I can find...

AWESOME!! So glad you found it! I too saw it at Target the other day and was gonna let you know if you hadn't found it yet. No, I never found aloe but I think I am good to go on all my supplies. I have officially cut myself off! LMFAO! Thank you so much for offering to ship though, I appreciate it!

We are getting married January 19th, at Playa Pesquero in Holguin Cuba.

So far about 20 of our guests have booked and we're thinking probably about 10-20 may still book.

Here's what I've got done so far:

  • Booked the resort and confirmed our wedding date.
  • Decided on TA
  • Sent out invitations (we are not doing separate invitations and STD)
  • Created wedding website
  • Booked a photographer
  • Bought my dress, veil, headband and shoes
  • Bought bridesmaids dress (currently rethinking and possibly buying new dresses)
  • Picked out Grooms suit (still need to decide on shirt and tie, maybe when we get the BM dresses figured out)
  • Started picking out OOT bag contents

I am really excited to start DIY projects and OOT bags. So far I've run into some delays because it's hard to get stuff shipped to Canada and I don't have a very clear idea of how many people are coming.

I'm going to DB this weekend to pick up the dress. Here's hoping it won't need any alterations.

Oh yeah, in the city where I live we have "wedding socials". We've booked a hall, and a DJ and my sister is working on decorations, and I'm gathering tons of donations for the silent auction prizes. We're calling it a Hallowedding social. It's basically a big Halloween party that people buy tickets to. We'll also be having a silent auction and selling drinks. Everyone here has them, people love the party and the bride and groom can end up making a lot of money.

I have started looking at venues for our AHR as well.

What's next??

So I am starting to feel like I'm running out of time, especially now that our small DW (we were thinking about 20) is turning into a family reunion with 50 people!!!

So far I have:

- My dress ordered, should be here in October with tons of time for alterations

- My 44 guests are booked plus my FI and I

- My MOH, 2 BM's and the GM have accepted and are booked

My to do list is way, way too long to post. The top of the priority list is finding BM dresses in aqua - apparently not a hot colour this season in Ottawa, b/c we aren't buying traditional BM dresses....online has been our best resource so far.

Next on the to-do - Start all the DIY projects so I'm not scrambling to get them done in Jan!

Important events/dates comming up:

July 19/08 - Engagement/house warming BBQ

Sept 21/08 - Bridal shower

Oct 4/08 - Bachelorette weekend in Montreal (we are doing another Bachelorette night in Punta Cana when we get there)

End of October - My MOH moves to the other side of the country so all the parties have to happen early and before she leaves plus I need to plan her Goodbuy Party

How are the other Jan brides doing?

You go girl! Sounds like you are doing great! As far as the dresses in aqua; I forget do you guys have davids bridal? I'm thinking you don't but I cant remember. If you do they have a beautiful aqua color in every style you can imagine. Good idea on getting stuff early for DIY. I bought all my clothes, swimming suit and all OOT bag contents and put them in the closet. Me and my BMs are going to get their dresses ordered in the next few weeks. Let's see, photographers booked, flights booked, I've bought centerpieces, ring holder, sand ceremony vase, BM gifts, my jewelry, BM jewelry, I've made my veil and BF sandals. I'm having so much fun planning and buying stuff, it's hard to stop. I just figured it would be much easier to get it all out of the way, enjoy the rest of the summer, then fall comes, following the bachelorette party, Then the holidays, and all of a sudden it will be time for all of us to go! I'm now working on our ceremony music, and will be making my BM's each BF sandals to match their dresses as soon as they order their dresses. I am getting so excited!!! cheesy.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
