For those of you who have ordered monograms from a business: What is the file type they send it back to you in? Also, is there a reason for hiring a business to do it for you rather than DIY? (as in, is there something different about the file type that prints better or make the monogram 'work better' than DIY?)

I was playing around on the computer the other night and started copying a lot of the monograms that I've seen on Creative Montage and other sites. It isn't difficult, but I hadn't printed any of them yet, so I didn't know if the professional ones print better or something...

If you are submitting a design to a printer it is always best to give the file to them in a format created by a graphics program. I use Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop CS2 for things like that. Illustrator would be the best bet though because it is focused on graphic design with type elements in it.

I usually save the file to my desktop and then unzip the files (there should just be an 'extraction wizard' that pops up) into the fonts folder (for Windows, you go to C drive; then Windows; then Fonts.) Usually, I have to close down the program I'm using and re-open to be able to use the new font.

Does that make sense??

I didn't think about the way my monogram will print. maybe I should do it again in illustrator. I made it in powerpoint. This may be a dumb idea. Can I open it in illustrator & then save it as that file type? Or should I create it from scratch in illustrator. I've used the program before, but I'm much more experienced with powerpoint.

I will just be using it to print on my invitations & maybe plastic cups. Do you think it will print OK?

The 1st time I downloaded them, I saved them on the desktop, but I don't know what to do once I unzip them. How do I use them?

The 2nd time I downloaded them, I saved them under Windows/fonts and altho they supposedly downloaded, they're not showing up under the list of fonts.

What am I doing wrong?

You unzipped the file OK? Once they're unzipped and you transfer them to the fonts folder, they should just show up with the list of other fonts.

You need to UNZIP the files to the Fonts folder...not save them there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
