fun at IKEA - check out my table idea

Recommended Posts

My FI and I went to IKEA today to pick up some more of the photo frames that we are using to make the picture luminars....he hates this place so that was all I was expecting to get there....I was wrong!

We were able to get sheer panel drapes in the perfect color of pink/fushia which I am going to cut down and use as chair bows and table runners. They were a great price of 8.99 for 2 pannels which I figure will make 6 chair bows per package. (I posted the info for the place where I got our black table cloths in an earlier post.) We also found these really cool frosted candle holders that we put our monogram on using clear lables from staples. These were 12.99 each. We are trying to minimize the amount of flowers we need to pay for since they are expencive and not that origional.

My FI wanted to put this all together tonight to see what it would like. SO CUTE (him and the table!) Here are some pictures

I really like the contrast of the black and fuscia. What a great deal on the panels! I love a great deal! The luminary photo frames are really cute too....I like how they glow in a sepia color.

A couple of questions for you:

1. Are you putting photos of you and your FI in the frames? Or, photos of your guests/family, or both?

2. How do you plan to transport the glass candle holders to Mexico?

3. How many guests are you expecting? (I'm sure you've mentioned this piece of info somewhere else)

I've been meaning to go to Ikea to look for bar table centerpiece ideas. Thanks for making want to go NOW!

PS. you're lucky to have a FI who is interested (and helpful) in the way the table looks!!

First I should tell you that it is super hard to get pictures to turn out of candle things and make them show the colors and how they look in real life...

the photo frames have pictures of my FI and I with our guest through out our lives - like I have one that is for my parents of pictures of them and me from baby to present time - I am thinking guests can take theirs home (one per family) as a little gift after the wedding. There might be some pictures of my FI and I only but those are not the focus. The pictures are printed in black and white - sepia would work too depending on your color scheme.

We are going to Cabo at the end of Febuary to do our final site visit and we asked the WC at the hilton if she could keep some items for us until the wedding. My FI has gotten a little carried away with the "some items" idea but he seems to think we will be able to pack them in an old suitcase or something with a lot of bubble wrap- this is going to be interesting!

We are expecting 30 adults and 8 children at the most - we have yet to send out our invites so no one knows for sure. Currently we know that 10 adults and 4 kids have purchased their plane tickets. I have decided that if that is all that ends up coming we will still have one heck of a good time!

I love this forum! it is so nice to have people sharing ideas. I love the idea of the photoframes with pics of the guests to take home. What a great suv.

That's great that you're going to be able to bring a load of wedding stuff with you in Feb. to leave at the Hilton. I wish so much that I could do one more trip down there before my wedding.

Your wedding is going to be amazing and your guests are going to have such a great time!

Thank you for sharing!

OK Sarah, aka Martha Stewart- your tables look totally awesome! I love the black and pink together and the candle holders are so pretty, I know things don't always photograph well, but I can tell this is going to look really nice! Great jobsmile29.gif

Thanks, I am glad you like it. My color is actually a fushia or dark pink color with orange as an accent color. The photo looks a little on the red side but I think this is just since it is difficult to photograph with the lights off and only the candles as lighting. Red would look great too.

Sarah those turned out perfect. I keep telling my grandma we are going to IKEA when I go to CA in April...now I really have to go. Maybe I will just go before I head out there and take an extra suitcase...you have inspired us all Sarah.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
