Bad breath

Oh yikes. Steve used to have an employee that stunk really bad and guests would complain. He HAD to talk to him about it and the guy blew up. He was really pissed that people thought he smelled. Not that I think ALL people would react that way, I'm just not sure if there is a good way to give them a heads up. I'm sure they would be really embarrassed even if it was done delicately. I guess it just depends on the person though.

Is it chronic? LIke it may be gum disease? Or is it more from them eating food that smells like dog poo?

Now you know why she gasses them smile120.gif

How about talking about how you are going to the dentist because you have a dodgy tooth and you thought it made your breath smell - she might take the hint

First, you crack me up! I've never seen her eat anything that resembled dog poo so I'm gonna guess it's gum disease or something of that nature. It's pretty much all the time. That's also what makes it kinda touchy- maybe she doesn't have dental insurance and can't do anything about it.

I'm thinking I should just mind my own business and put some vapo rub under my nose when she's around!

Wow, this is touchy. I don't know a nice way of telling a person this at all and like you said, we've all had these types of people in our lives. I'm trying to think of a good way to bring up dental hygiene. Like, can you say, "gee, toothpaste is on sale today at Walmart. I'd better go get some. Hey, what kinda toothpaste do you like?"

LOL.....Doesn't sound like a door opening convo does it??

I was just listening to a dentist on a radio show today. He reminded people that your mouth is the opening to your body!!! Ewww...Maybe she doesn't floss? That could be a cause too...Girl, I don't know what to tell you!!!

Guess you better keep that vapo rub handy!!! LOL

haha ya I suppose dog poo isn't as popular these days.

I would feel terrible confronting someone and then finding out they don't have a dental plan. Again, I'm a pansy with this stuff, but I would keep hinting so they don't know for sure that you are saying that they stink.

It might not be easy, but I think you need to take them aside & tell them. I have a HUGE paranoia about having bad breath.. I'm always chewing gum, brushing my teeth, etc (I even brush my teeth if I wake up in the middle of the night!) And if I put myself in their situation I think I would much rather have the small embarassment of one co-worker gently mention it to me as opposed to everyone noticiing (if you notice, I'm sure others have!) & being a joke of the office.

They may act offended/insulted at the beginning, but I really think in the long run they'll appreciate it so much!

Are you sure this person is not aware of the problem? My mom has chronic bad breath and she does everything she possibly can to fix it. She pops mints all day long and has some of the best oral hygiene from anyone I know. She is very embarrassed by the issue and I personally think it might be diet related because she doesn't eat many carbs... but it's being going on for years. I would just tread very lightly. The worst thing would be for someone to break down and say they know it's a problem and they can't find a solution.

But yeah, even I have a hard time getting too close to my mom sometimes.

It might not be dental or food related. There is a bacteria that some people have problems with that lives on the tounge. If it is more of a sulpher like smell... that might be the cause. No matter how much you brush your teeth, pop mints and gum, or change your diet, it'll still be there.

The 2 things that seem to work beast for this type of problem is gargaling hydrogen peroxide or the using a tounge cleaning system like BreathRX.

Maybe you could a kit like BreathRX on thier desk? That way no one would know who left it and they should get the hint?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
