How much $$$ does your FI / DH make?

He's a Smelter Operator at the metalurgical site (smelter) for a local mine. The copper is melted down by giant furnaces in the area he works in. I posted anonymously what he makes cause he'd kill me if I posted it! He works rotating shifts (2-3-2) which gets annoying because he switches from days (5am to 5pm) to nights (5pm to 5am) all the time, but he doesn't seem to mind it. It's a bit confusing to get used to the shifts, but it's not so bad. (ex/ this week he works: Mon-day Tues-day Wed-off Th-off Fri-night Sat-night Sun-night then next week will be Mon-off Tues-off Wed-day Thur-day Fri-off Sat-off Sun-off) Can't complain too much about the shifts because the mines are the main employers here in town. My Dad works in the mine, his Dad does, grandparents did, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends.... you get used to the lifestyle! :)

He gets enough time off & can work overtime when he wants to make a bunch of extras. He also get yearly bonuses. Soon he'll be switching departments to be a 4th Class Power/Stationary Engineer. The rotation will stay the same, but he'll be on 2 weeks days & then 2 weeks nights instead of changing every few days. He'll eventually work towards becoming 1st Class which should take 10 years of hard work (4th leads to 3rd leads to 2nd leads to 1st), but it'll pay off in the long run!

My FI has his PhD in Chemistry from Penn State.

He is a Global Director of a very big company. He makes a good living, but he works his arse off. His bonus alone is the same as my salary. Needless to say all is good in the hood.

I posted annoymously as well...

My FI is in the army and makes total shite cash for what he has to do - saying that when he gets out in 4 years he will have done over 23 years and he'll be in the real world and probably making 0 as he has no qualifications what so ever lol Mind you he is on about going freelance in a hot place and making mega bucks!

my FI is the director of PR & mktg for a university. we arent hurting for cash, but he wants to change jobs after we get married so he can do a job he actually likes, his boss is a totally incompentent tyrant. for the record i make a couple hundo more a month than he does. we both have the same amount of education -- same masters from same school too.

Fi makes a little less than I do but its not significant (like $250 less). He is a teacher for a middle school for emotionally disturbed children and autistic kids. If he taught in the suburbs he would make a lot more money but he's big on making a difference so he is super happy with his job.

We both make pretty much nothing. LOL.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
