It certainly is going to be extremely helpful as I am in the UK trying to organise a wedding at a venue I have never been to!!!!!! think from what people have said on here that we have made the right choice though.

We had never been there before our wedding either and it was an amazing choice for us! They are so good at what they do, our day turned out better than I could of expected. We had a couple little things go wrong but if you cover all the things with them as suggested by other MP brides, your day will be amazing.

In response to another post, we spent all 11 days at MP and were so glad we did. We took some of the tours and were never bored with the place. I could of stayed longer when we were leaving.

I am getting a littl stressed out.. and my fiance is like just relax everything will work out.. But shouldn't i have somewhat of an idea??

Thanks Nibsmom - I realised that you had already posted it after I had asked the question!!!!! should really spend more time looking thru this forum first!!!! thanks anyway - the song I (we) have chosen for signing is about 4 minutes long so that should be fine.

TinaM2be - thanks for the re-assurance - its nice to know that you are not the only one in that boat!!!!!! Im sure that I will be asking more and more questions as the time goes on.

Here's a quick one for anyone!!!! Is it worth upgrading to the different packages for the wedding or just stick with the complimentary one - and then upgrade a few needed items!!!! I am looking at using the tucan gazebo if possible as I think that looks lovely - is this the best choice or is another one better!!!! I just dont want it to look too bare

Sorry for the neurotic questions - Im sure i will calm down soon!!

Cheers

I also stayed at MP for the entire trip. We were there for 10 days total and I also could have stayed longer! The day after we returned from the trip I was ready to go back because there is so much to see and do. It's really a personal preference though. If you do want to go to another resort, but want to stay with Palace resorts, I believe Sun Palace (located on the main strip) is adults only.

As for what to start with planning wise, (after Save-the-Dates and invitation list) I would just start thinking about what you want your day/trip to look like. Most of the details can't be done until you have your final count, but you can think of things like colors, cocktail/reception options, how long your trip will be, out of town bags, music, etc. You don't have to go straight to formal decisions either. We had a pretty laid back wedding in Mexico, but I know for the AHR I spent a lot of time just browsing the internet and keeping notes of what I liked/disliked.

Hello! Congratulations on selecting the Moon Palace for your wedding! You won't be disappointed! :)

The packages are really personal preference. I know many of the recent brides who just got married at MP had the old packages. When it came time to select packages, I went through the list of add-on services, added up the total cost of the ones I liked and wanted, and then compared it to the packages. For us, it ended up being a better choice to just get the free package and add-on.

As for the gazebos, they are all beautiful. I know during the planning process I wanted someone to pick "one" that they liked, but really, they are all pretty. I personally think Tucan is the quietest as it is the furthest from Sunrise (I think the busiest part of the resort). I also wanted this gazebo, but ended up with Bugamibilias. Looking back, I'm glad I got this one because I had the horse and carriage ride. We stayed in the Moon Grand section and this allowed a long ride to the gazebo through the resort. :) The Tucan gazebo would had only been a 2 minute ride. The chapel gazebo is nice because it is surrounded by the water, but wouldn't have worked for us because it has glass around it. My husband (so fun to say that!) does not do well with heat so the ocean breeze was a huge plus!

As for bare looking - I was also worried about this because we didn't select any flowers for inside the gazebo. However, looking at my pictures we are surrounded by palm trees, sand, and the ocean. While most weddings require decorations, being married in such a beautiful location is a huge plus because the natural scenery is already there for you! One suggestion if you don't have flowers, try to place your bouquet in a spot that it will be in the pictures with the flower side facing out. I did this without thinking and it looks nice in the pictures!

Yikes! Sorry for a million posts! This time I have a question because I'm kind of STUCK!!! I'm having my AHR on the 28th and I can't decide what to do with my hair!! At MP I had it all up due to the heat and wind, but now I'm not sure if I should have it up again in a similar style or switch it up completely and have it down?? I know this is an AHR question, but I was hoping to hear everyone's opinions here as well. Today we are suppose to get our Chinese take-out boxes for our favors. Fun! :)

Thanks in advance :)

Jodi, I think your FI is just like most others. I heard the same thing continuously and lots of chuckles when this forum would give me another idea of something!! This forum is good for that!! HA!!

The first thing I did was start a notebook. I found a pretty sprial 3 X 5 one and I put about 5 tabs through-out it and made sections. After the wedding, DH and I got a lot of little chuckles from all the stages I went through from planning till the end. It had everything from picking out a resort to working with the TA to emails to send out to guests, to the lists of things to bring with us on the trip.

The second thing is read all the reviews of the resort you can find. I got so many GREAT tips from them.

One thing I learned on this forum that saved me tons of time and stress is I only sent out one set of STD / Invitations back in October/November. We worked out a deal with our TA for our July wedding that people had to put deposits down by December and had till April to pay for their wedding. (they could also cancel by the same date if need be and get their money back) . It was great to have it all done early.

Rach, This is just my opinion and an interesting question. It will be interesting to hear from other brides on this.

I think you get better service from the WCs if you have a package that you pay for. In a couple reviews from people that had the free packages, it seemed that their wedding coordinators didn't pay them as much attention for the entire day.

We had a paid package and added a couple extra things... IPOD music rental, upgraded cake and little for an upgrade to the photo package. Our total cost for package and extras was approx, $3,000 USD. Our wedding coordinator was with us from 1:30 ish before our 2:00 wedding till around 10:00 at night. The only time we didn't see her was during the downtime between our wedding and when our 5:00 cocktail party started. A couple other brides that went with free packages stated they barely saw their WC after the wedding and one had some items disappear. Our WC took care of our every need and even gathered all our extra items for us to pick up when we picked up our photos several days later. We didn't have to worry about any of it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
