Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Oh, very very cute Honey!!! We are just doing a one layer vanilla cake, since our buffet comes with desserts too!

I've started packing tonight, I feel a little better about things now. I also have almost all my receipts sorted out. Do you think a paypal receipt would work? They don't say what you purchased...??

Packing is going to be really crappy. I have NO idea how we're going to pull it off!!! I'm bringing my dress on as a carry on as well, apparently it will be fine as long as it's less than 22 pounds and on a wooden hanger. I'm flying Mexicana. I talked with one of their agents online, and she seemed to think everything would be just fine. We might have to check a fifth bag though - that will be expensive!!!
Ladies--I just got back from Moon Palace in May, if you have any questions, just let me know!!! We are going back in Feb 2010 to get married there

I just did receipts myself on the word document, i listed the website, quantity, price per and then total. I have heard from others this has worked for them. I am sure if you have a nice $20 to hand them that will get you by too lol...not even kidding.

Ah... I was away too long. I had a destination AHR so to speak so I was gone but I hope I can still answer some questions for those of you leaving soon. Sorry that I missed you Tina but hopefully all is wonderful!

Hope that helps!

You must be getting excited - its getting so close!

Yes! Witnesses do have to be there 2 days in advance and they sign paperwork during the ceremony. They just have to be there by 6PM and take their passport with them to the wedding office. My parents and my DH's cousins did this for us and they all told us how honored they were.

I was the person that only had rooms in their contract (not nights) but I did complain and I got the perks. Essentially, I asked my TA what she could do for me and she worked it out with MP. I got 4 nights free and the free private reception for having 80 nights booked. I would definitely recommend bugging people about this. Attacking it from a $ standpoint sounds like a solid idea.

I am currently in the process of booking my date (April 22, 2010) We were told by the miami person that the sun set is at 8:30 in april so we went with the 6pm slot.... however after reading this site I think we should go back and ask for the 3pm...

We're still waiting to hear back about our contract (filled the online form out on Thursday)

A couple of questions.

I don't think there are any current Canadians on this forum.... So I'm not sure if anyone can answer... If we go through a travel agent can we still get block rooms? (ie all the rooms next to each other?) We have a small group (24 max... probably closer to 18 and we're all staying for a week.) and this has been brought up as an important request from family.

The other question, Did anyone find themselves running into other wedding parties? (ie if we have the 3pm time slot, will we have to wait for the 2pm time slot to finish?) will our guests be waiting outside the chapel before they can go in?

I've emailed tammara's photos to see if their available, not sure if I'm going to be able to talk my FI into that or not :P

Congrats to all the girls getting married this next week or two... there seems to be a lot!

Happy Canada Day!

Tiffany

We got married at 6P in the beginning of May. Some of our pics were a little rushed b/c the photogs were afraid we would lose the light but they all turned out great. The reception was dark outside but that was fine with me (they had lights set up around the terrace but it didn't get too bright).

All of our rooms were close to each other. Almost everyone was in the same building but those that weren't were right next door.

The only other wedding people we saw were at the bar after the weddings around 10P. They space out the ceremonies so you aren't back to back with anyone. Don't worry about milling guests. Always remember, they do thousands of weddings every year. If they weren't great at it they would not be so popular.

I have already broken down everything into little ziplocs - I am wondering if I shouldn't have done that. I'm not sure now how to navigate the receipts because I bought some of items in the bags from another bride on the forum and I don't have real receipts for them...I guess I can just print my paypal receipt...do you think that will work?

They don't carefully check the receipts, just having them is enough. Explain that they are for wedding guests, offer the receipts and smile. Pretty much all you need to do. :)

They were really good with the music. Our song ran short covering the signing so they just went back and played another song.

Feel free to PM me if anyone is freaking out or wants some more specific info!

Thanks so much for all the answers Tracy!! I finished getting all my receipts together today - I only had to make one fake one. Not bad! I'm going to assume that the fact that the invoices I'm giving to FI won't cause him any trouble - the invoices all have my name on them. I don't think it will be a problem.

We leave on Monday!! I'm super duper excited!!!! We've started packing and I think we're going to make it all fit!

Work is going to be painful this week....
I got married at MP on 6/26 and we had the mariachi band as well. i'm not sure if they have a list of songs to pick from, if they do, i didn't see it. i think the just have standard music that they play. to be honest, i don't even remember hearing any of it cause i was so excited to see B waiting for me! my guests had great things to say about the mariachi band though...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
