Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I was having problems with my WC, Kalena, and I got my WC switched to Claudia, who is really great via email. I never heard from Kalena once - over a course of five months - phone calls and all. Tina has had much better luck with her though!!

It took us about 1 1/2 hours to get the VISAs and through customs. Everyone off of all planes has to go through 2 or 3 lines. We got there with several other planes.

BTW, Customs really enquired about our bags. I kept saying over and over, only $100 for wedding stuff. We finally hit the light and it was green!! YEAH!!

Work is going to be painful this week....

I've been to the MP before and I know it's great, but I'm glad someone else on here can now tell everyone how nice it is! SOOO excited for you! For ALL of you guys whose dates are coming up soon! :)

Tina (when you get back), was it better to call Kalena then and just talk over the phone? I've e-mailed her and not heard anything in a week now.
I just hate calling because I like to have everything in writing, for my records. (People can say whatever they want over the phone, and it can get misinterpreted as well) so I really prefer e-mail. But if she's not going to respond... that won't help either.

We met with the WC (Kelena) today. She had everything so organized. She may not answer emails very well but she did have it all together. She was telling us that she works 10 hours days 6 days a week and sometimes just doesn't have time for emails. It was a 2.5 hour meeting with us going over every detail. Everything we talked about on the phone was just like we talked. I would send emails and just re-forward everyday until she either replied or told me she would call me. Another thing I did when we talked would be write it in an email and send it to her with instructions that if it was incorrect, to let me know. I had copies of all those emails with me today. I didn't need a single one. Also, every price she quoted me was right on with what she re-confirmed today.

Also, there is not a choice for songs with the mariachi band. They have set songs for different parts of the ceremony. I am very excited about them. The only choice we had with them is the color they wear (white, black, blue). My DH wanted black and I wanted them in white...... White it was. HA!! I explained that I liked the photos I've seen of them in white but not only that. It is a freaking 2:00 wedding.... they would be dying in Black.

Also, for us, the temperature is amazing. There has been a breeze both days we were here and we have been out to the Bugumbillias and B. terrace both days around the times we will be there. It has been beautiful with a wonderful breeze...... but we come from Texas. It has been over 100 with no breeze for two weeks.

I would be interested to hear how customs went for you too, if you have a chance, but no worries if you don't. I'm super nervous about customs! Did you make any fake receipts?

HAVE FUN!!!!! Maybe Honey and I'll see you when we get there!!
We did not make receipts. I had a lot and did throw them in, in case. We didn't bring all our OOT stuff though. We delivered them last weekend with notes to everyone "For you trip" and "Thank you for sharing this time with us". Hopefully, they all make it down here but if not, I tried.

I am not worrying about anything any more except the next 9 days. It sounded like Kelena will be with us all day Saturday and will be herding people around. She even said she would try to get a room for a hospitality room for the 8 out of resort people coming in. BTW, she told us that they could come in for the entire day 8:00 to 11:00. YEAH!!

Oh Tina, I'm so glad it's all coming together so nicely!! I'm so happy for you! I am just going to make fake receipts for the stuff I don't have receipts for and bring real ones that work. I wish I would have thought ahead and not bought OOT bag stuff with other stuff on the same receipts. That was just dumb. Hopefully we'll only have four bags!

I'm trying not to freak out about customs anymore. Or anything...but it's hard! I've been so tense and clenching my teeth when I'm not paying attention. LOL. Gosh I will be glad when I'm down there and can just relax!! We leave in 6 days!!!

I am, I am!! Only 2 more days of work and then packing all weekend. We're working on our playlist tonight. I emailed my WC about cake flavors and style today so she has time to prepare the kitchen, I really have my heart set on cannoli filling with devils food cake, so we'll see! Here's the pic of the cake I am looking @ Click the image to open in full size.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
