Did I misunderstand something ?

This is an email that I received back today from Moon Palace when I asked about the outside photographer. I do NOT have my photographer booked yet btw, lol but of course they don't know that! It seems that if you are pretty persistant and the photographer is from mexico, they are flexible.

Hi Yenci,

Once you have booked your wedding with us, I will provide you with your on site wedding planner. At that time, your photographer is going to have to get in contact with the wedding planner so that they can advise the photographer of the documentation that needs to be provided to the resort. In this case, you will only have to purchase the wedding pass for her.

We do not allow outside vendors, so when you are making the reservation make a note in comments that you are bringing an outside vendor. That way we can make notes in our system and make the exception.

Thank you.

Kind Regards

Thank you Yesenia for getting back to me so quickly. I would have to pay for the photographer to stay at the hotel? That doesn't make sense if the photographer lives in mexico and will be coming only for my ceremony/reception? I thought that I would only have to pay the day pass for her? I have already booked her.

Hi Yencie,

If you were to take your own photographer, they would have to stay at the resort as one of your guests. As for the site inspection, please fill out the attached form and fax back to our office at your earliest convenience so we can schedule your appointment with an on site wedding planner.

Thank you for contacting us:

Kind Regards

I think you have to have 150 posts to open attachments. I feel like I post on this thing waaaaaaay too much, but I still have several posts to go! I think they just want everyone to equally contribute to the site.smile29.gif

Fabi :-)
Fabi, I will attempt to put it somewhere tonight. I haven't tried to pull anything from the DVD so I don't know if they have it write protected or not.

I love the DVD. It captured so much of the wedding and afterwards. It is a very nice thing to have for memories.

CAKE-CUTTING: Did you bring your own knife and spatula or did Moon Palace provide this?

CENTER PIECES: Did anyone get any centerpieces? How much do they cost? Are they in Glass Vases? Did anyone use LED's under their Glass Vases for extra glamour or is this just tackyhuh.gif

EXPO-CENTER: Has anyone had their dinner and dance at the ExpoCenter? I only got one tiny little picture from them and I would like to get your feedback as to if it is cute or not. My party will be small (28-40) people.

FAVORS: What favors did you all have? I am thinking about cookies as well as luggage tags and maybe a wine set (cork screw opener and a top).

SUNSCREEN: What kind of sunscreen do you recommend? I heard that you need biodegradable to swim with the dolphins, is this true? Where do you get them? What about sunscreen for your hair?

I get married next month and I am beginning to PANIC.
Fabi,

CAKE-CUTTING: We brought our own cake cutting set that was engraved. Several brides before me stated they only give you a knife that resembles a large butter knife for the cake.

CENTER PIECES: We didn't bring any and they provided decor at every function. The only thing extra we bought for decor was orange table runners. They did the rest. They actually used our extra fans from the wedding as part of the reception decor. They placed them around glass certerpieces they provided for free. It was very clever.

FAVORS: We gave all our favors in our OOT bags. The only extra we brought for the wedding were the fans.

Also, this is probably a dumb question but is there A/C in the rooms?
MrsEddy,

There is A/C in the rooms.

It is pretty breezy. I chose to wear my hair up based on reviews from other Cancun brides. If you are getting married in am open gazebo, you face away from the ocean and the breeze is coming in from behind you.

We chose to hand out our bags before the trip down. We were glad we did it this way because it just made everything a little easier and less stressful before the wedding. AND we didn't have to have so much to bring with us.

We took clothes for 11 days, beach towels, our ceremony stuff (Sand ceremony items & fans), tons of suncreen, thank you cards and envelopes, and the makings for a couple extra bags (we had some extra guests show up and this was good). We had two large suitcases each, our carry-ons and my dress.

Hi all

Need some help as always!! cheesy.gif

Birth certificates - I've just noticed we need to take "authenticated" certificates - what does that mean? Do they need to have an apostilles on it?

Also, can it be the abbreviated certificate...or do i need to get a full cert?! This is the only part of all this i'm getting stressed about...and boy am i stressed! I don't wanna turn up there with the wrong stuff!!lol

On another note...i contacted my contact at mp a few weeks ago and asked if i could have an outside photographer, and asked if there were any excepts and got told there were no exceptions and yes i could have an outside photographer...full stop!! its soo bad we are all getting told different things. I'm going to print out the emails I have and take them with me as proof incase anything starts to go wrong when we are there!

About the photographer: I emailed them and said I had a "family friend" staying at the resorts and taking my pictures for me. She said that was totally fine, as long as they are staying there. I also asked about bringing my own DJ and they said that was fine. Although this is Le Blanc, I think the Palace resorts all have the same rules. Definitely print out everything you have any writing!!

Did you rent the sound system? We are thinking about bringing an ipod docking station with speakers since we have such a small group....
Yes, we rented the ipod system. It worked fine with my iphone. I'm glad we did, especially because we ended up in the bigger reception area. I'm not sure if a docking system would have projected enough. And, I don't think my luggage could have handled one more thing! LOL.

I brought an American photographer. I paid for her to stay at the resort, and I never told anyone or asked if it was okay. No one said anything about it. I think as long as they are your 'guest', it's not a big deal, particularly if they are American and not Mexican.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
