Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Pookie and everyone out there!

This is Nicole and my wedding - vow renewal is 3 days after yours - July 26:o) I have been very stressed out - you should call Miami and have them assign you a coordinator. I have been assigned one for about a week, but didn't hear from them until I found that I couldn't eat or sleep! I have heard from them 3 times since yesterday. The planning phase for me feels like it has just started! What have you done so far? You replied to my "Newbie" post - thank you. I have so many questions and I am hoping it all falls into place.

Moon Palace is an excellent resort! I have been there 6 times and love it each and every time. As for the WC - I think they could get better on the contacting part. I am not sure as to there method of contact, but some people seem to hear from them a lot early then others. I was recently told that they are trying to contact people early, but they have been having problems. Thank heavens for this forum! It should help all of us!

For those who haven't read my "newbie" post - I will be married 20 years this July. My husband and I eloped and decided right then that on our 20th we would do the whole nine yards! Well.....time flies beause we are about to hit our 20 year mark and hence all this planning. It is kind of wierd for me because I am not really a new bride, but didn't have the opportunity for all the glitz and glamour before. Any suggestions, comments, or ideas?

We do have 3 kids now ages 16, 13, and 9 and want to incorprate the sand ceremony in all this - any suggestions?

We are doing the Symbolic ceremony, cocktail party , and then dinner.

You guys are great! Thank you!

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!
I think it's wonderful that you are celebrating in Mexico!!!
They have a lot of sand ceremony options for families.
Here is just one website you can take a look at:
Wedding Sand Ceremony - Unity Sand Ceremony with Readings and Vows

You can also do a google search for "sand ceremonies for families" and I'm sure that will help too!
Good luck with your planning and Congrats!!!

Sharla,
I LOVE the little table at your shower!!
My shower is this weekend in Buffalo and I'm trying to think of creative things to do. I think we are going to put out a little table with one of our centerpieces on it and some pictures of us too. GREAT IDEA!!
I will also have a separate cake table for my shower cake.
Is that a guestbook you have on that table?
Any other cool and different suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Nicole,
First of all, congratulations, that is amazing. How exciting that you're getting to do something you wanted to do 20 years ago, so cool. My FI and I have been together for almost 11 years and I know how time flies. You should definitely do a sand ceremony and incorporate your kids, it would be great to have so many different colors in your vase.

As far as what we're planning, we're doing the non-catholic ceremony (dont remember what its called, civil or something), followed by dinner and dancing on one of the outside terraces. We should do a cocktail hour, but we're also doing a rehearsal party the night before, and I just dont want to keep adding to our costs. We are using the resort photographer and are renting sound equipment to use with our laptop. We have most of the planning completed, my FI and I are currently finishing up mock-ups of our centerpieces, that's really all that's left. The hard part will be packing everything and getting all the information to the WC when I am assigned one.

Oh you guys are awesome! Having your feedback and ideas is already making me less stressed out - and boy that is a good thing.

Melissa - thanks for the website!

The costs do add up quickly! There will be a total of 22 of us there and I am trying to make it as memorable for all our guests as well as my immediate family. The sand ceremony is a definite now! I am also thinking of having one or all of my kids say a poem or something. Pookie, with your private function, I would not even consider the cocktail party - smart on your part. Are you bringing all your arrangements? What about OOT bags? I was kind of thinking to buy alot of the items to go in the OOT bags while at the Moon simply to minimize what I have to bring. You know all the airlines are going nuts on the additional baggage!

I do not think a veil is appropriate for me, but what is your guys take on flowers, jewels, or a tiara? I will have a wedding gown because I didn't get to do that the first time around - it is a creamy ivory color. Also, my husband is an officer in the military so he will be wearing his uniform. The MOH and BM dresses are navy blue abd believe it or not, I still have to decide what my boys will be wearing - suit or tux? crazy, huh with 6 weeks left to go. I need to get way busy!

Thanks!

Haha, I was going to ask if you were wearing white :)

In some ways, 6 weeks is a lot of time, in other ways, it isn't. Don't do anything that's going to add more stress than it's worth :) That being said, I think I read somewhere that there's a walmart and Costco in Cancun...so if you wanted to pick up stuff there for the OOT bags, it might be a lot cheaper than getting the stuff from the resort and less stress than trying to get it from up here to down there. Just look into the cost to rent a car or a cab to and from :)

I have mine already and I am 5 months out... she contacted me out of nowhere after I started asking a lot of questions of the Miami girls. I booked in October so maybe they are just sick of dealing with me already

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
