    Hi MP Brides,

Question for you... We do not have a group contract and we've setup the private reception/cocktail hour but did not get any sort of formal contract for the private reception/cocktail hour back from my WC. Our WC sent us an email confirmation and that was the end of it.

I'm curious to know if there are any other brides out there who do not have a group contract but have confirmed a private reception - specifically I'm wondering if you received a formal contract (sort of like the formal contact you received when confirming your wedding date/package). I asked my WC if I should expect to see a formal contract and she said that they only issue formal contracts for the group rates/pricing and the wedding package. I feel like I should have something more than an email confirmation from my WC... Maybe not??

Hello - we are in the final stages of selecting MP, and we just had our TA look into reserving a block of rooms for us (and lock in a rate) - and MP wants a lot of $ to hold the room and wants to release them 200 days prior to the wedding date, which seems really close. We are getting married on Thanksgiving weekend next year - and have app 100 folks coming - but that still seems a bit odd what they are requesting. Did any of you reserve a group block? If so, was it the sam restrictions? Our TA suggested that we could reserve the ceremony and reception - and relook at it in January... or someone else said that a block may not even be necessary at all. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for the help!

        Hi everyone!

I have a question to those of you who have visited MP already:

What restaurant would you recommend for a reception dinner of approx. 25-35 people?

We started out wanting a private reception, but since we are not having as many people as we thought we would, we are thinking about just having our dinner in the restaurant since it is INCLUDED in the package! Are there any restaurants with outside seating overlooking the ocean? Which restaurant has the best food? :)

I see lots of people commenting on Terrace Venado, but I believe that is a private reception area, right?

        Evelyn

We were planning on asking for the Tucan Gazebo for the ceremony, but I haven't decided about locations for the cocktail hour and reception. I read someone earlier quote that I think there is a balcony or terrace by the Italian restaurant overlooking the infinity pool that is supposed to be really nice for a cocktail hour, so maybe there? I've been asking Marlyn for a wedding coordinator (we're within the three months now!) and I still don't have one. Did you do anything differently to get yours?

Are you planning on organizing many activities for your guests? I was hoping to get a schedule of the theme shows that are on nightly and see if we could book a bunch of seats for one of them...has anyone tried that? Do you know if there is a printed schedule of the theme shows anywhere? When I get a WC, I'll ask them too!
          Hi Sunny Bride!

Ohh the balcony/terrace at the Italian restaurant overlooking the infinity pool sounds dreamy - I am not sure if it exisits? I would love to find out - as that would make a great location for our Welcome Dinner. If you find out any more details, can you please let me know? Note though that the Italian restaurant is far away and could be quite a distance from the Gazebo.

I was assigned a WC awhile ago BUT I have yet to get a response from her from any of the emails that I sent I am hoping that I get a response any day as we are really anxious to secure the Chapel Gazebo.

No, we are not planning too many activities. We are having a Welcome Dinner, I have also made arrangements for special treats in the guest rooms. We are also planning on attending the 'Party Hopper Tour'.

If you receive the scedule for entertainment, can you please post?

          Thanks
          Laura

IS ANY OTHER BRIDE GETTING MARRIED ON JANUARY 29, 2009?

IF SO, at what time and location is your ceremony, cocktails & reception?

Yes, finally at the end of last week. She did answer all of my questions and said her email had not been working properly. I'll try not to worry since everyone says they operate like a well-oiled machine down there. Now that I have the important things confirmed (reception location, etc) I feel better. Thanks! Hope your planning continues smoothly.

                Hi Evelyn,

Post #1051 on page 6 may provide you with some insight as to which restaurants can accommodate your group size. I received the same restaurant list posted there from my WC and was surprised that very few of the resturaunts could accommodate up to 35 guests. I've never been to MP but I've read recommendations in this forum on the following restaurants: Brazillian on the Nizuc side, Asian on the Sunrise side, the Italian place on the golf course, and the 2 restaurants on the Grand side. The restaurants on the Grand side and the Italian place on the golf course seem to be the best from what I've read. Not sure which, if any, have outdoor seating/oceanview.

You are correct, Terrace Venado is for private receptions/cocktail hours.

Where in Minneapolis are you from? I was raised there but couldn't handle the winters anymore so I relocated to Dallas...

Yes, it actually has more than 1 - there is also one on the Grand Side of the resort!!

                  We can't wait!

Hey Camie....Where in Dallas are you at? I live up in Carrollton!

I am looking for more details on the Grand side. I know there hasn't been much official information released, but is there anywhere over there that would be a good location for the rehearsal dinner? I have photos of the rooftop deck/bar above the carribean restaurant, but I have been told that can't be used for a big group...anyone else know anything?

I am 6 months out and am definitely hitting the wedding planning mode!

Yippeee - I spoke with our onsite WC yesterday afternoon and all of our main details are booked and confirmed!

Kalena is a wonderful WC - easy to work with and very accommodating!
