I am doing a private dinner. We'll do two hours of dinner, then two hours of dancing. We probably won't do any decorations, but I was thinking of asking about the costs of votive candles and maybe doing some colored linens. Hey, if I'm going to blow my budget....

I know that the rose petals are 40 dollars a bag - does anyone know how big the bag is? Has anyone traveled with freeze dried rose petals? Are they a problem at customs??
Nina, We and all our guests had a blast with the photo booth! This was at a party for all those that are coming or couldn't make it for some unusual reason (having baby, loss of job, etc). This party (which was called a couple's shower) had 70 or our closest friends and family at it. It was so fun, and I was very happy that everyone was there. It also gave the people that wants to give us something an opportunity since we are not going to have a AHR. I gave extra OOT bags, cups and koozies away at it too!

Since I have started packing, we are not going to have any extra room to carry rose petals (I remember 1 MP bride saying that she had one suitcase dedicated to only her rose petals) so we just decided to buy them at the resort. My WC told me they had mixed colors or singles colors. We requested orange petals.

I hadn't really thought about candles for tables but we feel we will probably go to Walmart at least once if we need stuff like that.

Not sure if this basket is all of the petals or if they just filled the basket with what would fit. The basket was about 4 inches deep and about 8x8 as well.

Has anyone lined the aisle with the rose petals? I wonder how many bags that would take?

TinaM2B-

I noticed you are having a secret ceremony in the states and just the ceremony there. So what ceremony are you having in Cancun. By doing this what are you cutting out? We actually wanted to do this but I read in my Wedding Contract that it said The bride and groom must NOT be legally married if so they needed to inquire about the symbolic ceremony and I wondered what exactly that included. If this is what you are doing would you please let me know what it includes.

Thanks

Leanna, From the reviews I have read, There is no difference in appearance at the ceremony when you have a symbolic ceremony verses the legal one. We purchased a wedding package so we will have the carriage ride, walking down the aisle, vows, (we also added a sand ceremony), signing a document and everything else that a legal ceremony has. The things we are cutting out is having our blood drawn, getting the license translated and I am sure some other hassle type things. Both me and my FI felt we did not want people in Mexico having as much information about us as a marriage would give them.

We are looking forward to our ceremony though! From what I have heard on this thread, MP really makes your wedding day perfect in every way!

Hey, I just talked to a really bizaar travel agent who was basically telling me not to go to MP. She said that it was not 20 minutes away from the airport and really about 45 minutes. Is this true? The rest of the information I am going to disregard she said and obviously not go with her but I was just wondering about the distance from the airport.

The airport is really only about 10 minutes away. The TA might have been thinking the Adventura Spa Palace which is in Rivera Maya....but the ride in the van was only about 10 minutes....the longest part was the driveway up to the beautiful Moon Palace!

My husband and I did the symbolic package only about 3 weeks ago! Everything was the same...and perfect at that! It felt like the actual wedding - since our "legal" ceremony was at the courthouse! It will all feel real - and nobody will ever know!!!! We were not treated any different..and the minister still had us sign a certificate and everything! Any more questions about the symbolic - let me know!!! I just joined to provide support! I got married there on 6/2/2009 - and I am SO JEALOUS you are going so soon...I want to go back! Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
