Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I can totally handle 500! I sent her an email on Monday, now I'm just waiting. Although I'm pretty sure Daniel will be wearing a rented suit for the wedding, I saw a video on utube with the groom wearing a white button down shirt and jeans playing in the water... it was hot. The FI is a little opposed to doing it, but if we're down there, he's totally a captive audience.

Provided the the atmosphere/gazebos, what are you ladies having your grooms wear for the wedding?

Oh my gosh, Marie! I was totally planning on having FI and the groomsmen wearing jeans. I'm so glad you saw that picture and thought it was hot, because I felt like everyone else I told about it thought I was crazy. I think a really dark wash jean and a white linen shirt would be perfect!

My dress is totally formal, but I think that between the jeans and the BM dresses, it should tone it down a bit.

My FH is wearing a silk tan suit, an ivory shirt without a tie, medium brown sandals, and a matching belt. He looks amazing but the funny thing was that what he's wearing cost as much as my dress, spandex strapless slip, shoes, and jewelry. Crazy! :)

Also, your reception turned out great as the restaurant didn't seem crowded at all and the ceiling of that restaurant is stunning.

I have about 3 months to go and I'm really excited.
Rosie,

I think it would be so much more dramatic because everyone will be able to see you from the beach area and you will be standing there like a princess on a pedastal! It will be amazing =)

I don't know what the resorts numbers will be like in three months...but while we were there it was less than half occupied so nothing was too crowded =)

Keep me updated on your stunning day...I'm so excited for you!

Karla

I would imagine that if it was within six months, you'd be safe, but of course thats not for sure.
We changed our to a symbolic ceremony and just going to the courthouse to make it legal here. Its less of a headache and actually cheaper (no translations, no blood tests, no apostille docs)

I've been curious about the TTD in Cancun also. I assume that the resort photographer doesn't do those sessions so I'm wandering if anyone can suggest a decent but affordable outside photographer that we could meet up with on a different beach? Any insight from anyone thats looked into this?
(Affordable being under $1000)
Marie,

We are also planning on getting married in the US and then having the catholic ceremony at the resort. Did you confirm with the resort that you do not need to have the apostille docs, blood tests, etc? I have the same questions and I just emailed my WC (prior to catching up on the forum) but she's on vacation until January 13th.

Thanks,
Camie

My FH and the groomsmen are wearing khaki linen pants and white silk shirts from Tommy Bahama (they have a very faint pattern to them but not anything that is overbearing, or that is going to be shown in the pictures... I would think). My concern is that my FH is going to be dressed in the same outfit as the guys are so I was thinking that if he just had a flower and none of the other guys did that he would stand out as the husband-to-be. Thoughts? Should he wear something different, possibly a suit?

We've had such a hard time finding the outfits for the guys as everytime we found something it went on clearance or "out-of-season" the following day and suddenly the store did not have all the sizes that we needed. So, I feel like we should just stick with what we have and not deal with the stress of finding him another outfit that matches. There are a gazillion shades of khaki in the world!

I do like the idea of dark jeans - wish I would have thought of that!

Camie-

As far as I know, you don't need the apostille document or blood tests if you aren't making it legal in mexico (confirm with miami). You will, however, need to bring a copy of your marriage license with you.

If you can find a darker (or lighter) pair of khakis for your groom, that would give him a little more presence in comparison to his attendants. Its the same idea as the groom wearing a different colored vest in a traditional wedding.

Camie, I was planning on having the groom and the groomsmen wear the same outfit. I was going to set them apart by FH having a flower. I figure that anyone who came all the way down to Mexico to see the wedding is going to know who the groom is! LOL.

Oh my goodness, it's been months since I last posted on here!

I thought I would just pop in to ask a quick question - does the cake cutting have to take place immediately after the ceremony? From most of the pics I've seen, the cake has been cut at the gazebo. Can you make arrangements to have the cake cut at the reception?

    • Sorry you had to deal with this I hoped it worked out. It seems to be every few months a new store will be in the  'if' stage and to the 'when' stage.  Big businesses like this don't notify the employees or customers before they close down...that would cause even more losses.  One day there are signs on the door and the business is done.  And lots of people (employees and customers...not to mention the creditors that they owe millions to) get screwed immediately with little help to be found anywhere.  Look at alfred angelo, although they had less retail stores than David's Bridal, they may have had more sales than them as a company.  They were the largest manufacturer of dresses and were carried by thousands of independent stores across the world (not just the 60+ branded stores they had).  If you google search Davids Bridal going bankrupt, they are listed on all the sites that post retail stores on life support.  They have more debt than they will be able to service in 2019 and the only question right now is if they'll make it that far.  Once the debt comes due, it's almost a 100% certainty that the company will be done.  But it's also more probable than not that the bankruptcy will happen much sooner than that.  The argument about them getting a new line or how big they are isn't a good argument if you look at the history of how these normally happen.  Alfred Angelo had a brand new line of dresses that never even hit the stores but were made overseas already...those all made their first appearances at the liquidation auctions.  I'm not trying to scare anyone here, but just trying to make sure that people understand that when a company gets to this point, it's definitely a roll of the dice if you are ordering something that you can't take home today.  How much of a risk?  That's hard to say, but I am extremely confident that the pain felt when alfred angelo closed 61 stores will be even greater when Davids Bridal closes 300+ stores…and when there are other great discount dress stores out there like Bridepower or Vows Bridal Outlet on the East Coast or Brilliant Bridal in the West (and plenty of others as well), I don’t think I would personally recommend any of my friends to take that risk!  But that’s just me:)
    • Hello all!! I'm planning to get married next week. I'm working in an MNC and I'm gonna marry my colleague who is in my company. It's been ten months since we have started our relationship. He used to support in all my difficulties and used to help me in my work. Always he used to tell me about my smile. He says that I have a very good smile and he loves it. Recently I lost my front tooth after an accident and it resulted in a bad look for me. He told me that I lost my beautiful smile. I was totally disappointed and thought of finding a solution. I heard about dental dentures and took an appointment at a clinic in Scarborough. Will dentures affect my speech? What was your experience of getting dentures?
    • Go for the third one. It is gorgeous and you will look stunning in that. I'm sure you will be noticed by other people. Go for it.
    • I would suggest the long one. You will look stunning in that. It is simple and elegant.
    • Both the gown are awesome and I'm sure you will look gorgeous in both. But I would suggest the first one. Go for it and Congratulations for your marriage.
