Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

By the way, I have been to the DR, and if she thinks it's safer than Cancun, she's delusional. Not to say the DR isn't safe, but I felt much safer in Mexico. I mean, you really can't leave the resort in the DR- if you do, you are taking a risk.

The info is very much still valid, the only thing that has changed is the pre priced packages. If I were you, I would go through the spreadsheets and price out what you think is important. If it totals more than the package on the website and offers less, then you need to pick one of those packages, that's all.

Janina is my Miami WC. Does anyone know how long it takes to receive the wedding contract after you confirm the date? Will the wedding contract also contain the group booking contract?

Oh wow! Congrats! I'm getting married the same day at 4 p.m.! Which gazebo are you getting married at? We're at the Immaculate Conception chapel in Nizuc!

I asked for the Tuscan Gazebo. We you confirmed for the chapel? I asked for the Tuscan Gazebo and they said they will request it but can't guarantee it. I think I'm falling a little behind schedule. I'm hoping to have my STD's out by the end of the month.

I wonder if they have pictures of each of the different decorations available or if everyone getting married now is still on the old packages.

I want DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS, lol. It is funny because I am such a planner that micromanages and needs to know NOW and this is the kind of thing you have to be patient and let them contact you when they get a chance...I downloaded the files with the bouquets, ceremony locations, and cakes but that is all old information so now I want the new information, lol! Meanwhile I am still stuck on firming a date and what colors to have, boy oh boy...
My WC from Miami Janina sent me the bouquet pictures. If you can't download it just pm me.

Thank you so much! this helps me a lot because I am trying to decide between a realtouch bouquet from Plumeria's flower boutique or the flowers that come with a color package. In the packages it specifies you can only pick a bouquet from that color package. I wonder if they will exchange, I will ask as soon as I get a WC bc I like the blue package but I don't like either of the bouquet choices. Which color package did you pick?

Thanks to all of you ladies for the awesome reviews, pictures and info!! I have 95 days until the big day and I am starting to FREAK OUT! (Get ready for a little venting...)

We used a travel agent to arrange our group contract... We negotiated with her and MP and got even a slightly lower rate than the group contract rate... but the stipulation was, we MUST have 10 rooms or that price is VOID! (not to mention we no longer qualify for the free cocktail hour). Well, the deadline is Sept. 1st to finalize rooms, and we have 9!!!!! I think we have exhausted all of our options of people to invite (our turnout was a lot less than we thought because of the economy). If I don't get this 1 room, they are going to raise the prices back up for everybody and that is not fair to my guests!! The price is roughly $13 less per person per day.... but that adds up when a family of 4 comes for 5 days!! Ahhh I'm so worried now!

Some of the family has already complained how expensive it is... which I justified by telling them how everything would be taken care of once they got there.... but they are going to FREAK if they find out they owe even more than I quoted them! Ahhhh so frustrating!

I know I can't afford to pay the difference for all of our guests..... we have our outside photog. staying 1 night, but I was thinking about possibly paying for 2 more nights to make the three night minimum..... I know for sure he would not be staying there though. He probably has other weddings to shoot that weekend and will be checking out the next morning. With that said, do you think that plan could work?

That plan would work except they would need to check out of the room. I would just tell MP that you are paying for the 2 extra nights even though the room won't be occupied and get it in writing that if you pay for the room nights the price is still valid. I hope you got the price in writing too because I will tell you now, the Miami office doesn't relay anything to the on site people. You need to bring documentation down with you. Miami gave me one extra night free because my flight was changed and I had it in writing in an email I forwarded to the accounting department. If I didn't have that, I would have been screwed. Not telling you to scare you, but if they are doing something out of the ordinary for you, get it in writing.

I agree - I think that plan would work. Or you could book the photographer's room under your name and your photographers, so you can check in and out of it. Say you're using it as a room to stay in around the wedding so you're not sleeping with your husband to be or something - but I doubt they'd ask.

But then you'd have to pay the double room rate...hmm. I would maybe contact your travel agent and see if he/she has any suggestions. My photographer and my mother and sister were thinking of only staying for two nights (neither ended up doing that, but still), I checked with my TA and she said it would be okay and they could still get perks and have it count towards the room total. Maybe your TA can pull some strings for you or suggest how to swing booking those extra nights on the tenth room.

I know how you feel - we had just enough rooms to meet our contract too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
