Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Thanks, MrsGin09! I did add a few pics of the after stuff but still waiting on some better pics. Got a feeling that there will be continuous changes and some replacements on it... just the way I am.

When do you leave? I am sure you are getting excited.

We are so glad we stayed so long at Moon Palace. We were there for 11 days with the wedding in the middle. We were able to get there and relax, check the places out, and just get out of our home frame of mind. After 4 days, our guests started arriving. Either Bennie or I met most of them in the lobby and had the bartender and waitress ready and waiting for thirsty new guest. I think everyone appreciated that attention. We also hung out in the lobby the day most left to say bye. In between, everyone had a blast and most said they would definitely be back to MP.

I really think the thing most people liked is it is so accommodating, so relaxed, yet they take care of your every need without being stuffy. The entire event was fun and relaxing.

Our wedding day was more than I could of ever expected.

CONGRATULATIONS Tina!! You look beautiful!! Your slideshow is wonderful. Everyone looked like they were having a fabulous time. I am so excited but a little nervous. One quick question, your tables look great at the reception!! Did you bring the table runners? I am not sure what all I need to bring.

We had several days to ourselves before and had several days with my boys after the wedding to do tours, etc. I think we wore ourselves out after because we tried to squeeze in a lot of things. The best part was we got our pics from them before we left which was great.

Weather - We thought the weather was amazing BUT we and all our guests were from Texas. We have had over 100 degree days for a couple months with no breeze in Texas. We thought it was great on the beach with the breeze. The day of our wedding, we had a couple rain showers and overcast all day (thus the gray water photos). It made it even nicer for the wedding day (no bright sunshine squints in the photos, they moved our dinner inside which is what we wanted but they wanted to charge us for another event so we were going to keep it oustside till the rain, and it is good luck for rain on a wedding day).

Pool - It was great. the shade was from the palapas but good enough. For those that wanted sun, we/they laid out in the water on the platforms in the pools. For the ones that wanted the shade, there were plenty of the palapas for them. We hung out in the same area every day and that is where everyone met up the entire time all the guests were there.

Ballroom - We loved it. I brought no decorations and what MP did was great! The decor was simple but very color filled. We thought we would be outside because we didn't want to pay for a separate event. They moved the dinner inside that morning due to rain but kept our one hour cocktail hour outside. This was what we really wanted but we didn't prepare for it and it turned out absolutely amazing. We had problems with the IPOD station we rented but the guy manning the system ended up acting like a DJ and took requests all night long.

Let me know if this didn't answer your questions. I know how many I had and appreciated getting.

Leanna,

We paid $6 a runner for each table, total $36.00. They put the centerpiece on them and used our leftover fans for part of the decoration. That is it.

We had the old Deluxe package for our wedding which didn't include gazebo decor...... we were pleasantly surprised they put orange ties on some of the chairs in the ceremony too. We did not pay extra for that either.

One other note that I need to add that I didn't cover in my earlier post. Because we and all our guests are used to HOT with no breeze, we would of had our ceremony outside once we checked it out. This was a concern before we arrived because we heard a lot about it being so hot in Cancun. We checked out the ceremony cite the first two days at 2:00 (because our wedding was at that time) and 5:00 (because our coctail hour started then and our dinner was supposed to be outside at 6:00). We personally thought it was great but that would depend where your originally from. I had originally asked about having the cocktail outside and the reception inside. That would of put us over budget due to the cost so we left everything outside. The rain really did give us everything we wanted and a laugh or two.

Whatever happens, make the best of it because the MP staff really wants it to be that way for you.

I know I am posting a lot but just wanted to get out a couple more things since I haven't had a chance to even start my review.

Looking back, we would give almost everything an A- to A+ grade. There were only two exceptions - music system and flowers.

Most of you have already read about the music system problems we had but I haven't mentioned the flowers. We didn't get the ipod docking station we paid for so the guy manning the music ended up being a DJ but was playing songs we would of never picked to be played. We did find out some of these were requested though.

Regarding the flowers, I did not receive the flowers that I requested but that was the ONLY thing I didn't provide photos of so it was partially my fault. My bouguet was supposed to be orange gerberas and orange lilies with a little greenery and tied with a turquoise ribbon. I received the orange gerberas but got off-white lillies, and it was tied with a dark blue ribbon. The bouquet was fresh but you only receive them 5 minutes before you walk out the door. This was one of the things I felt wasn't worth mentioning at the time, because what are they going to do 5 minutes before. It just somehow fell through the cracks.

Fortunately, the guys got their orange flowers like I requested. An orange lilly for Bennie and Orange Gerbera's for my sons.

The other issue with the flowers were the alter flowers. Again, they were fresh and at the time of the ceremony I didn't notice to much that they didn't use the orange gerberas or lillies throughout. I think there was one orange gerbera in each and some off-colored orange carnation type flowers. The off-colored carnations really bother me in the photos with them in them. It just wasn't what I expected. Again, I didn't provide photos.

If you are picky about your flowers and colors, be sure and bring photos. If it doesn't matter, they do turn out nicely arranged and put together and fresh.

On a good note though, since we were staying for 5 more days after the wedding, we had them bring all the flowers to the room and enjoyed them for the rest of the stay. The color didn't matter in the room because they were beautiful.

We will give the flowers a rating of C and the music a rating of D.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
