Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

umm yeah, not to scare you but you NEED that group contract in your hand like yesterday. Please never give money to anyone unless you see what you are agreeing to. You really can't trust anyone's word implicitly (I am assuming you had to pay for your rooms up front because that's what we had to do).

The other question, Did anyone find themselves running into other wedding parties? (ie if we have the 3pm time slot, will we have to wait for the 2pm time slot to finish?) will our guests be waiting outside the chapel before they can go in?

Happy Canada Day!

Tiffany
Tiffany, We leave in 5 days but I have read review after review on this forum and within this thread. Moon Palace has several locations for weddings and even more places for receptions. I have heard over and over again that the only chance of even running into another bride or bridal party is maybe at the salons getting hair, makeup, spa services the morning of your wedding.

Receipts!! Yes! I actually put a lot of receipts in my extra bag already. I have been delivering bags the last couple days on my lunch hour with a note "Thank You for sharing" and "for your trip" on the tag. I can only hope that they all get there. It is looking like we only have to carry the contents we are going to use and two bags worth of stuff. YEAH!!

Yes, I am very excited and very anxious. Going over and over my lists to make sure we have got everything done..... for both work and wedding.... since we will be gone for almost two weeks. Going for 11 days makes it a little more complicated.

Our work is giving us a shower tomorrow that I am also excited about. We both work at the same place, different labs, and have been there for over 15 years. It should be lots of fun. Sounds like they are going all out on decor of the auditorium.

I totally appreciate you looking out for me but I think I need to clarify a bit... we are booked through a Canadian wholesaler Transat Holidays. for us leaving from Edmonton it makes way more sense to use a travel agent and a wholesaler then to book directly with the resort - the savings were about 1000/person which makes it more than worth it. Because we are booked with a wholesaler the group contract is actually between them and the resort not between us and the resort which is why we don't have a copy of the group contract. I do have emails from both the office in Miami and the travel agent saying that we have a group contract and that we do receive the benefits but I know that things don't always go as planned and things can change very easily when you are dealing with Mexico, I was hoping there was maybe another bride on here that has also used a Canadian wholesaler just to confirm that things will go as they should.

Either way even if we don't receive all the bonuses we are still okay with our choice - if you add up the savings for us and our guests it more than pays for the free functions, but we would still like to save on the free functions if we could.

Hello Ladies!! 20 days til I leave for Cancun, 24 days until I say I do.

I haven't been able to post much and am catching up on your post. It's so amazing at most we thought we would have 50 guest. Well as of last week we are at 118 guest and 37 rooms with 4 more rooms booked this week. I qualified for the free events am only doing a welcome reception Thurs, Rehearsal Dinner Friday, maybe breakfast with the ladies Sat morning (still deciding), and the ceremony Sat 5pm at Chapel Gazebo, cocktail hr Chapel Garden, Reception indoors in Nizuc lobby ballroom.

A couple of questions for you ladies.

OOT-bags--- my contract person in MIA (Katherine) who is AWESOME!!! recommended to not ship anything because 75% of things never make it she said. Needless to say bringing 120 of each and everything is going to be a hassle and I'm sure a real adventure to get thru customs. Any recommendations?? I heard someone say to pack receipts I will definitely do that.

Flowers-----I'm getting the rose bouquet included in the complimentary package and I have asked to buy 10 gold, 10 orange, 10 mini gold, and 10 mini orange loose calla lillies the only thing they are offering is to paint themhuh.gif? What giveshuh.gif Can they not get the flowers. One of my BM's works as a florist so wants to doctor the things up ourselves instead of paying their enormous prices.

TinaM2b- I think it was you who mentioned being able to mix and match some of the menu items. I just got a response from my WC that I had to choose one or the other. I was trying to combine some of the hors d'ouevres from Intl 1 and Intl 2 list and she told me I couldn'thuh.gif? Gonna push definitely.

I think that's it for now. We are staying at MP Tues-Sun and checking in Sun Palace away from our enormous party Sun-Tuesday.

Yeah, I am super nervous about going through customs.

I have already broken down everything into little ziplocs - I am wondering if I shouldn't have done that. I'm not sure now how to navigate the receipts because I bought some of items in the bags from another bride on the forum and I don't have real receipts for them...I guess I can just print my paypal receipt...do you think that will work?

Tina, I can't believe how soon you are leaving. I'm leaving in less than two weeks and I have SOO much I have to get done for work and the wedding. I would kinda be freaking out if I was as close as you! But, I'm super excited for you too!!!! Have fun at your shower!!

Woohoo!! Another July bride! There are so many of us!

I wish you luck with the OOT bags going through customs - I only have 25 guests! There is a thread somewhere in the Riviera Maya section of the forum that talks a lot about going through customs - I would check that out to see if anyone has brought that many bags.

As far as the flowers go - I would do it yourself if you can - it will probably be cheaper. I know they can order some flowers though - they have ordered orange peonies for my bouquet!

As for switcheroos - I really feel like it depends on your WC is what I'm beginning to think. I'm also having an issue with my WC telling me I can't have long tables at my reception unless she applies with her supervisor for an exception - yet I KNOW other brides on the forum have easily gotten long tables at their receptions. So, I don't know....I feel like it really depends on your WC for some things. I know cutierosie also have switches in her menu for her events, and didn't seem to have any problems getting them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
