I just checked my wedding contract. It states,

"Witnesses must arrive two (2) working days prior to the ceremony. If witnesses are not available, Palace Resorts will provide them free of cost."

Clears that right up!

Cha-Ching!

One quick question- What's the difference between booking "room nights"as opposed to actual rooms booked?

For example, I know one person on here said that they're pretty much getting unlimited private events and the whole shebang for having 78 "room nights" - Well, my party is deffinitely way over 78 nights of rooms booked altogether, so i sent this to my coordinator, and they said-

"With a minimum of 10 paid rooms for 3 nights booked through your meembership you get a complimentary cocktail . With a minimum of 20 paid rooms for 3 nights booked through your memebership you get a private event instead of cocktail receptionWith a minimum of 25 paid rooms for 3 nights booked through a membership you receive unlimited private functions and 7 complimentary room nights to be refunded via the same apyment form it was received."

She said the benefits are only according to total number of rooms. (Which, at the moment we're at about 16, hopefully more by next week)

So how are people getting bennies based on "room nights"?

pyxystyx, I think it depends on your contract. Some of our contracts state # of rooms OR room nights. Some people's don't. I know another bride a while back had the same issue. You should take a look at your wedding contract and see what it states - one criteria, or both.

Tina - It is adorable that you two will have two separate anniversaries! Twice the celebrating each year. :) Congratulations!!

Honey - Best wishes for a fun day at your legal marriage here in the states.

I was also nervous about the witnesses, but like Nibsmom wrote, I had it marked down that they need to be there 2 working days prior to the wedding. Luckily our parents are booked to fly in exactly that (we are exactly 3 days!). Fingers crossed, everything will work out. I was hoping that this would be one way to include them into the ceremony.

I'm starting to get frustrated with my on-site. I know I need to be patient, but it has been 8 days since I've e-mailed her and no response. ARGH! I e-mailed Maribel as well a few days later and no response from her either. I feel like 8 days is a lot considering we are leaving in less than a month!! sad.gif

pyxystyx - I would also suggest contacting the weddings department. My contact in FL was able to clear things up for me. If you booked through the MP, I wouldn't see why it was a problem unless things have now changed with the new packages. I booked August 08 (old package) and I am able to do room nights OR rooms. If you booked through another TA, they might have different deals with the MP which could cause the freebie rules to change a bit.

Does anyone have the list of food you can have served at the cocktail hour? I really thought I had this, but I think I might have deleted by accident when I was going through e-mails.

Thanks!

I just e-mailed my on-site WC about it, since it wasn't stated in either of our contracts (we had to sign a second one when we changed our ceremony time).

We have a Palace membership (Or, rather, my FMIL does) and so we've been booking through the Membership office to get her deal.

To me it seems though that should get us MORE benefits, not less! (Those memberships aren't cheap!) Plus, we may have only 15 rooms but almost all our guests are staying for a whole week, so I think we're bringing them a lot of money.

We'll see...

Ok, so for the room nights thing, my contract states 25 rooms for 3 nights or more OR 75 room nights (which is 25 times 3 obviously) I am pretty sure all the contracts are all the same. You NEED to go through the Miami person on this they are the only ones who have authority. Fight for this, there are so many benefits with having the 7 nights free, free events etc. Whats the difference for them whether or not your group booked 25 rooms X 3 nights or if 10 people booked 75 nights collectively? It's still the same amount of revenue. Like I said, fight with Miami for it, go to a manager if needed and then make Miami email the onsite telling them you are eligible and have them CC you. The only thing I can see is if your TA is lying to you because if you get your room nights free through this incentive, they don't make a commission on them (just your room nights) and yes, your room nights count towards the total room nights.

Eureaka-

Thanks!!!

I attached the menu file for you. I also wouldn't stand for an 8 day lag. Email/call the Miami office. 8 days is unacceptable.

Honey - Thank you!

I am planning on fighting them for it, but not sure how that's going to go, since Maribel in Cancun and my Membership contact already told me "no".

I don't want to get all biotchy, but... dangit, I want my free stuff!!!

Like I said, it's the same revenue, no matter how you slice it. You should tell her if the amount of nights aren't going to count towards the free nights, unlimited events, then you might as well just tell your guests to stay less nights since you were trying to get it up to 75 :-) Bring it to a manager. I am not telling you to swindle or anything, weddings here aren't cheap no matter what perks you get, there are still so many places they nickel and dime you. You should get no less than any other bride that's having their wedding there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
