Doblauvelt - hi - when we sent in the wedding reservation request, Claudia the WC emailed me introducing herself and letting me know she was my contact should I have any questions. Also in the email was our contract # and contract we had to sign and fax back to her with credit card information for the package we were purchasing (which was the Amber Collection). On that form was where I chose the Amber color, the Tucan Gazebo, 5 p.m. for the wedding time, etc. I assume you sent in the wedding reservation form? Maybe they are busy and overwhelmed with recent weddings an email couldn't hurt?

My boss just got back from Playa and told me the most interesting story. They stayed at one of the Iberastar resorts (I originally was considering getting married at one of these in Pay). Three of their resorts are closed and they combined all the resorts into their top of the line resorts in the area (sounds sweet, huh?? ). My boss said they watered down all the liquor so bad and would sweeten them up so much that no one in his party even felt the alcohol unless they were drinking wine or beer..

I thought that was so strange.

doblauvelt, Don't worry. Many of us waited till a month out. The resorts are VERY slow. My WC even told me that. They may be doing something a little different now so don't worry about it if you don't get someone now. I am confident from all the reviews that it will be my dream day no matter what. When it is your turn, they go all out.

We leave in 13 days and will be married in 19.

Doblauvelt, I agree - I didn't reserve my gazebo until much later after signing my contract. It will be okay if you wait a bit. If you really are going to stress out about it though, I would just email your Miami contact and ask her to put your request in your file. I'm sure she could probably do that for you!

I didn't really get in contact with and start really planning with my WC until recently - maybe 2 weeks ago? So, what I found was that they will reserve a gazebo for you, but tend to be more hesitant to do other planning beyond answering questions until much closer to your date.

That is strange. I know a lot of the resorts have been loosing money - economy, flu, terrorism, etc - maybe this is an effect of that. BTW - my mom and my brother got the swine flu, for reals! They are totally fine, they weren't even sent to the hospital! They just have to stay home for a week. Now I really feel like it's no big deal.

OMG!!!! I am so excited for you!!!! For US!!!! LOL! I leave in 21 days and our wedding date is in 25. I CAN'T believe how soon it is. I had another guest add on last night, so that was a super good feeling too!!! I've been very busy with wedding stuff, it's so fun! Tonight, maybe I'll put together my flower girl baskets!!

Hey Nina!! It is really close for both of us. It is starting to get fun!! I cannot wait till we are there. I can't beleive that about your mom and brother!!! Glad it isn't so bad as people were thinking.

I thought that was so funny about the liquor. The place my boss stayed didn't have bars in each room and he said that he and several others really did try to get a buzz a couple times and it was that bad. I wondered the same if it was because they were hurting. If they had to combine 4 hotels into one, it must be bad.

Has anyone heard if any of the Palace resorts are closing and combining with other resorts?

I've been on the Palace website quite a bit, and I haven't seen anything about one of the resorts closing! I'm sure we would have hear of it through the forum if one of them did!

All I've heard of is that they aren't offering all the tours for the passport program, which is on their website actually, in the tours section. It's none of the tours I was particularly interested in, but I don't remember which ones they were! I'll try to find it later. I have to go to a dress fitting right now! Woooot!

doblauvelt - I freak out a lot, no worries. LOLOL.

I'm working a lot on OOT bags and getting stuff organized - I just had another guest add on today! I am also working on getting our playlists together for dinner and dances. I'm getting a lot of packages in the mail with stuff I've ordered for the wedding too - which is really exciting but making my coworkers jealous (I live where I work). LOL!

I sent a super long email to Claudia the other day with a bunch of questions and planning stuff. Hopefully I'll hear back from her soon - otherwise, I'm pretty much on hold for now!

I think I'm going to start packing soon too!!! WOOOOTTT! I just can't wait!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
