Frustrateddd
I think this is a temporary thing due to low attendance for the last couple months but just to be on the safe side, I contacted my TA and asked her to look into what they expect the Passports to have available next month. I also asked her to check on the one that was included and now they are charging $90.

BTW, I originally had our rooms booked in the Sunrise side but a few weeks ago after asking many questions to other brides and reading reviews changed our rooms to the Nizuk side. My original reasons was that the Sunrise is the busier side with all the bars. My reason for change, FI and I are going to be there for 11 days with most of our guests only being there for 3 or 4. FI has also said we are hanging out at the infinity pool in the Grand side most of the time. Since the Grand side is still under construction, we just decided stay in the middle so we can go either direction.

I'm not a MP bride, but an Aventura Spa Palace bride...I stalk you guys a little since it's the same chain...I'm really mad about them charging for the free tours! I'm sure if it's true for you guys, it would be at any Palace resort....GRRRRRR! Swine flu is ruining my life!

I was talking with my WC about our reception - she thinks we should do it indoors because of the temperature, but we're also reserving an outdoor space. I was hoping we could do it outdoors because then we wouldn't need to bring/buy decorations...sigh. What are you going to do if you have to move indoors??
I am, surprisingly, feeling pretty calm or maybe I should say numb...... FI and my boys don't have their clothes yet..... FI has told me for months "Don't worry bout our stuff" and has been traveling a lot the last few months and never tended to it. He is still telling me IT will be done and to stay out of the boys business....... So I am not thinking about it, just urging him to PLEASE get it done, especially since he is traveling again Saturday morning for two more weeks...... We are down to 24 days till we leave, as of this morning.

Nina, if we change to indoors.... I have decided not to worry about it.... Kelena is also urging us to move ours inside due to the heat but we are in freaking Mexico and I really want to see the sunset with out guests. We get there Sunday and our meeting with Kelena is on Monday. Sunday night, we are going to be on our terrace checking it out and make the decision then. If we change at the last minute, I am going to hope they do something to make it look nice. We are not taking any decorations currently, just our ceremony extra items, cake cutting utensils, and possibly OOT bag contents if we can get them all in one LARGE suitcase.

Rachel, no worries! I know your wedding will still be gorgeous no matter what! I've just decided to pretend the swine flu doesn't exist. Did you all see the WHO raise the swine flu to pandemic level today? Don't they know some of us have weddings!?!? LOL.

Camie and Tina - thanks for the input about receptions. I do really want to have it outdoors, and I hope that the weather will cooperate! I feel like if we have it inside, the space will be too big and too bare and it will be awkward. The group we have coming are not really dancers or partiers, so it would be weird if there isn't something there to keep the mood light - like a gorgeous ocean backdrop!!

Hello All,

I am a moon palace bride! We will be married in the Tucan Gazebo May 8, 2010. Just waiting for my contract. The communication with the resort sounds confusing to say the least and not looking forward to that. I am however looking forward to most of the planning. One question I have is if my group is 60 or so can we have a welcome dinner? Sounds like most people do it in the restaurants but our group would be too big so would we have to host a private function? That could really add up! Also, has anyone rented the private catameran boat as a welcome event? And are any of the bars large enough on the Nizuc side big enough for a welcome party? i think we have narrowed down the Nizuc side but still nervous about it and have not reserved our block. Just trying to read all the posts about which side. Ok that is all I have for now!

Welcome to the forum and thread. If you have such a large group you will likely be able to qualify for unlimited private functions. If you book everyone through a TA or the hotel as a group you only need to book 25 rooms (or in some cases you can work out the number of 75 nights vs. rooms) to get the free private function. This means that you can have a private welcome dinner on a terrace or in a ballroom if it is available.
I don't know anything about catamarans but I think some people have posted some info on this thread previously.

Good luck!

I am afraid all my guests will not book through the TA and honestly I could have anywhere between 35 - 100 people. I have no idea but I guess that all comes later. Two more questions I have thought of is 1.) since the hotel is so close to the airport do you hear planes? 2.) are the fireworks worth the $500 or so off the al la cart menu?

The member that started this thread has a video of the fireworks show on her Moon Palace wedding review. Watching the video helped me make my decision. I'm going with the fireworks :)

I never heard any planes the whole time I was there. I think I saw one or two but don't remember hearing any.

When you get your contract it will say something about the rooms/free stuff. If it says rooms see if they will switch it to nights. (25 rooms for 3 nights or 75 nights total). This way if you only have 35 people but they stay more then 3 nights you may still be able to get the free functions. I only had 30 people at mine but b/c people were staying so long we had over 80 nights booked and were able to get some free functions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
