Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

It is hard to believe we have no June brides on here! It is so fun to countdown to the next brides big event with them and then look forward to what they have to say afterwards.

Our stuff is coming together.... finally!! now that I am working with the WC at the resort. This week has felt amazing and like it is all really coming together. I have had several stressful things going on for the last several months that all ended last week. My goal is to have a stress-free and buying-free month of June leading up to July. I have almost everything purchased and am checking my list this week.

We leave for the resort July 5th for 11 days. We will be there 5 full days before and 4 full days after our wedding day, not counting travel days. I think it will be fun and relaxing.

I have not told our story on here before. This is both my and my FI second marriage. We have worked in the same building, participated in different sports, and been best of friends for over 15 years. In the last 8 years, our friendship has developed into the most amazing relationship. I have two boys (age 19 and 21 - both over 6'4) that love him as much I do and will be giving me away to him at the wedding. Our wedding party will consist of me, my FH, and my two boys with some family and many of our closest friends looking on and partying down with us in Cancun. We are so ready to REALLY BEGIN the rest of our lives together.

I am really feeling the emotions this week knowing it is all coming together, hopefully, without much stress this next month.

Aw, Tina, what a nice story!! It is starting to get really emotional now, isn't it, as we're finalizing our sand ceremony and our vows and all that! I'm getting really excited and nervous all at once. I get really jittery sometimes about all of this, because between all my 'parents' - step and biological included - there have been six divorces. I've never seen a successful marriage, and I get really freaked out sometimes that I'm getting married. My whole life I always swore I wouldn't!

Anyways, I wish I was going to be down there to peek in on your wedding!! I won't be there until the 14th!! I'm sure it will be sooo beautiful!!

Nina, We all have to believe "the cycle can be broken". Don't let it freak you out! Good things come from all things that happen!!

The emotions are definitely there right now! Sounds like all of your items are coming together too. We too are doing the sand ceremony. I bought a third glass container yesterday for ours and I think this is the one!! HA!!

We are just missing each other's weddings by days!! That would be fun to see each others and how everything plays out. We have talked about them enough. HA!!!

Hi everyone, I have only posted on here a few times, but I have kept up on everyones posts. My name is Jami, and I am getting married at Moon Palace on June 6th at 5pm, despite all the Swine flu drama. Our wedding coordinator is Claudia and other than a couple weeks of no responses she has been amazing. Everything is coming together but I still feel like there is so much to do in such little time! We are our welcome dinner at the Barracuda(sp?) resturaunt on the 5th, we wanted Arrecifes but it was already taken. Does anyone have any reviews of the Barracuda? We are then having a private reception on the Terrace Venado, with the BBQ buffet per my moms choice. And we have Ceclia Dumas booked for our TTD pictures. The only real thing that I am nervous about, at this moment, is the music. Per our wedding package we get live music, and it seems that we got the mariachi band and that is the music during the ceremony?? I am not sure how this is going to work, has anyone had this before and if so how did it go?? I am also interested in my guest throwing the flower petals during our exit, can the resort supply this or do we have to bring our own? Oh also, I am a little nervous bringing our OOT bags and table center pieces in customs, since I have no receipts for anything, did anyone run into any problems with this, or does anyone have any suggestions. Other than that I am welcomed to any previous brides suggestions on anything. Sorry for the amount of questions, I guess it is just last minute anxiety!!!

Hey BeachBride! Well, I haven't been to the MP, but I think I can answer a few of your questions...or at least one! I know the MP has rose petals you can purchase. I believe they are 40 dollars a bag!

I also know there's a thread somewhere in the Riviera Maya/Cancun section on customs specifically. I'm a little nervous about customs as well, but I think as long as you explain it's for a wedding, they won't have issues with it. It sounds like that's the way it goes most of the time.

You should check out Tracy's review in the post above yours too - I think she has a link to her review of Cecilia for her TTD!

Okay, so a question about receptions...

We are hoping to have our reception from 5 to 9. We figured from 5 to 7 we'd have food out - we are just going to do a two hour cocktail reception. From 7 to 9, we are going to do dancing, the cake, and whatever else.

How do they charge those last two hours? Does anyone know? Is it still 400 dollars an hour like a cocktail reception? Or is there a different cost for just having a bar, and then the cost of the DJ??

Hi Tracy, Your review is great! I was wondering who that guy was in some of your photos yesterday.... it was the best bartender in the world!! LOL You have been answering so many of my questions but your review brought up a few more!

If you had to do it over, would you pay extra for the IPOD Sound System? That is one thing my FI is not really happy about! We are bringing our BOSE docking station and he thinks he just wants to use that. We were quoted $410 for our 5:00 - 10:00 reception/dance. That is the basic rental for 4 hours plus one additional hour.

What did you mean by the dinner started with music not on the IPOD? Do they provide the dinner music?

What photo package did you get? Did you have a photographer into the reception / cake cutting time?

Thanks again for your wonderful reviews and all the answers you have given us!

On the paperwork we have, it states $400 per table of 10 and $60.00 per table for additional hours.

Welcome back!! How exciting, you only have a little over a week! When do you leave? Please come back and let us know how things go because several of us have tons of questions.

Our wedding package had a choice of music which included a choice of keyboard, guitar, clasical duet, saxaphone or Mariachi. We chose the Mariachi. My FI felt it was appropriate for a Beach Wedding in Mexico. It will definitely keep things upbeat. I know I have seen a few brides from Moon Palace that had Mariachi for their weddings. You may want to do an advanced search in the Wedding Review section of this forum and look through some of the recent Moon Palace reviews.

I ordered two bags of orange rose petals through my wedding coordinator. She had several color choices and she quoted us $35 a bag.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
