Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

MsLeBlanc - Thanks for the well wishes! It's a sore spot - it's been over a week and a half...a few months ago when she was first assigned to me, I never ended up getting a response from her. I sent her seven emails over the course of a month! I ended up calling the resort and was temporarily assigned Maribel, but apparently now I have to talk with Kalena again. I'm feeling pretty crappy about it.

Anyways! We are getting married legally down in Mexico - I don't think a symbolic ceremony would really have that same feeling for either of us. So, we are going to make Mexico the real deal - blood tests and stuff don't really bother us. And, how cool to have your marriage license in Spanish! Wooot!

We are also getting married beforehand and not telling our guests. Either way the "real" ceremony for us will be when we walk down the aisle in front of all of our friends and family. It just seems like too much of a process to get it done down there. Plus, heaven forbid if we forgot a document!!

Janina from Miami sent me pictures of each of the private function areas, their sizes & capacities (Tucan Terrace, Venando Terrace, Moon Terrace, etc.). I also have pictures of cake options, flowers, favors, decorations, beach set up etc. Let me know if anyone wants to see them and I can post them! I know there are older postings with some of this information but I thought I'd post them for those of us who don't feel like going back through the older posts :) Plus, I think these might be updated.

I am not sure who mentioned this earlier, maybe Camie, but it was mentioned you need to bring a certified copy of your marriage licence to MP. Can you get yours that quickly? I have heard that we need to give it a couple weeks before we can get ours.

You arrive the same day as most of our guests. We arrive on July 5th - leave the 16th. I originally thought we would be by ourselves the first few days and have guests there till we left. We found out last week some will be arriving the same day as us but all our guests will leave monday after the wedding giving us a few days at the end.

Nibsmom, We have not heard anything from Kelena either. My TA is calling her contact today to see what is up. Have you heard any bride actually say they had her as the WC?

Eureka, I am surprised they have already assigned some of your stuff. I want the Bugumbilia Gazebo and they will not confirm it...... just put in a request for it. What have you heard about the Tucan being cooler?

Hey Tina,

I actually just came on to post about this - I double checked and I emailed Kalena on May 7th! That's 2.5 weeks ago - I'm REALLY frustrated. I think I am going to try to find out how to request a different wedding coordinator - and no, I've never heard of anyone saying they have had her.

A few months ago when I tried to contact her I was told she was out on vacation for several months - not sure what's up with that, but I'm feeling pretty heated right now!!!

Let me know what your TA says - I am either going to email Maribel and ask how to request a new WC, or call the resort. I really don't want to deal with this kind of stress!

One question, If you had your choice of time, what would it of been?? Our wedding is at 2:00. We will have some down time between events but I sort of think that will be good. FI loves it because the wedding will be over and we can enjoy our friends and family. I am still not sure.

p.s. I would love to see a photo of your swine flu tees! HAAAAAH!!!
Given the time of the sunset on our wedding day (715ish), I would have opted for a wedding at 5pm, cocktail hour from 6-7, private dinner from 7-8ish, then dancing.

If you are having a private function, I'd time the dancing to start when it is starting to get dark. There is just something wrong with dancing in the bright sunlight - maybe that's because I am lacking in the dance moves department and would rather dance in partial darkness:)

Nibsmom, hopefully you hear back from your WC soon about moving your time. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!
One thing to note soon2bemsleblanc, (and I am not sure if this fits your scenario) is that we had to bring a copy of our marriage certificate in order to get 'married' in Mexico (we had the Catholic ceremony). So there were two waiting periods for us which really surprised me:

1. A 3-day waiting period after we applied for our marriage license before we could get married.
2. After the 3-day waiting period, we got married and then it was about 3 weeks until we got our marriage certificate.

If this situation applies to you, then you will want to get married in the US sometime in June.

I'm also a 5:00' date=' but the wedding isn't until August so I believe the sun sets a little later?

Hi Eureka,

I found a cool 'when does the sun set?' website that you can reference. Do a Google search for 'cancun sunset times' (do not include the quotations) and select the first link. You can then input the month/year and it will display the expected sun set time.

August 1st is at 7:26pm

I mentioned that we are having post-wedding swine flu t-shirts printed for our wedding guests and my sister sent me the design today for the front of the shirt (see below). She's keeping the back a secret from me until they have been printed and we have the unveiling and I'll post that sometime in mid-June. There's nothing fancy about the design but it is so funny to me because I "traveled to Mexico during the 2009 Swine Flu nonsense and lived to tell about it."

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
