Were planning on getting married February 2010 - just waiting for the resort to confirm our dates...

If anyone has any helpful pointers for getting started I would totally appreciate it :)

Thank you! They were fun to make!

Nibsmom, I want to tackle the passports, but did you find them much more time consuming to make than the boarding passes? I was thinking of making them for the invitations but also more as a reference point that has information about the resort and the intinerary, maybe even simple Spanish phrases...basically information that we have on our wedding website but mobile.

Does MP require a certified copy of the marriage license from the state? How many copies? We are doing the same. We did not want all our information circulated in a foreign country so we have decided to do the same before our actual ceremony in Mexico.
Hi Tina,

I am still waiting to hear back from my WC on if the copy needs to be certified or not. I assume that it has to be a certified copy and that is why I have started that fun process.

I also found out that to get copies you either have to snail mail a request to the county in which you were married and send them a money order (copies are $8 each in Dallas county) and then they will mail you the copies in 10-14 days OR spend a fun morning at the government center and you can get the copies immediately. Since we are short on time, we will have to stop by the government offices. I've tasked Pete with this fun action item! Yay Pete!

I will keep you posted on what I found out re: certified or not.

This whole 1pm ceremony thing is really stumping me. I don't know where to put the reception!!! Eeps. I keep checking the website to see if anyone cancels and I can move up a bit...no luck yet!!
We also had our bridal shower a couple weekends ago and that's when it really hit me. Then it hit me how time consuming thank you cards are! :)

We have the same issue with our reception/cocktail hour but it is because our ceremony is late in the day - 6pm. I guess that just gives us more time to hang out in the pool with frozen fruity drinks?!?! I am getting super excited!

We were assigned our WC about 5 weeks prior to our date - Lily Sanchez. She's really great to work with.

We are doing the same. Our wedding is at 2:00 and we also wanted to move it up....... Right now, we are thinking about having the reception shortly aftewards, a little down time, and then a private cocktail hour / dancing a couple hours later. Any suggestions on this plan? We do have some off site folks joining us. They are supposed to leave immediately after. I figured this plan would allow them to stay the day with the wedding group even though there are a couple hours in between events.

This is a Nerve Racking week for me!!!

It is the final week for payments on the rooms and there is still a small chance we are going to hit the 75 mark. We have a Mexican airline that flies out of Austin non-stop to Cancun for pretty cheap. Early in the year when the gas prices were so high and we were pushing people to get their tickets. They decided to only fly on Thursdays and Sunday each week (3 nights). Most of our people booked then and now they don't want to change things back to 4 nights which everyone originally wanted.

Fortunately, the ones left don't have flights left so there is still a chance to get to the 75. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I really want the unlimited events because I want a cocktail hour Thursday, coctail hour and dinner Friday and the two events on Saturday.

Good luck at hitting your mark! What kinds of events are you hoping for on Saturday? We are doing a private dinner on Thursday then the reception on Friday but I really don't know what other events might be good...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
