Marie,

Congrats and I can't wait to see your pictures! We were able to confirm that our photographer is going to be David Pena as well so I can't wait to see your pictures.

T-minus 20 days...

We went through all of the classes that were required and then the Deacon tracked down the Priest in Mexico to confirm that it was legit - it took him a couple of days but he succeeded and then gave the OK for us to get married there. The Deacon required us to send all of the Catholic documents to a different address than what MP provided us. We did this and it took several months to track down that they actually received the documents. I'd recommend sending copies of your documents and then bring the originals with you when you go to MP just in case. Also if I had to do things over again, I would have sent a copy to the MP address as well. Oh and one more thing the Miami office also requests that you send them a copy of your documents too.

We decided to get legally married in Dallas versus having the civil ceremony prior to the catholic ceremony. It was cheaper this way and seemed easier for some reason. If you decide to do this I would recommend getting married at least a month prior to your departure date. It took about 2.5 weeks for us to get the marriage certificate (just received it yesterday) and now I need to track down someone at the government offices to get copies (MP requires a copy) - not sure how long that will take.

MP recently had a change with Catholic ceremonies - the new Father is Father Benedict and his email is baguilar@palaceresorts.com (baguilar at palaceresorts dot com). The official name on his email account is: Padre Benito Aguilar Mendivil

Thank you so much for the information, I really appreciate it so much and will get in contact with the priest right away :)

Camie, 20 days..... wow!!! I can't wait till I start working with the resort. We still have three months but I have a feeling time is going to fly now.

Does MP require a certified copy of the marriage license from the state? How many copies? We are doing the same. We did not want all our information circulated in a foreign country so we have decided to do the same before our actual ceremony in Mexico.

JodiMichelle-we are using an outside photographer and we are having her book through our travel agency so that she appears to be part of our guest list. She suggested having one of our guests also take pictures to be a decoy, not so much because she anticipates the resort giving us a problem but just to be extra cautious. We are going to also sign up the resort photographers (cheapest package) in the event something happens to our photographer and she can't make it. The most important thing is the memories that we'll be creating so we want to ensure something gets caught on film!!

I do like some of the set ups though! Fireworks after the ceremony was an interesting addition?
I was wondering the same thing, I have an older package, and now that they have changed I'm wondering if we can get any of those options. I love the additional decorations, and I wouldn't mind the fireworks. I'm ckg w/my WC to see if we can get the "new pkg" options.

Hi Everyone,

We are just in the beginning stages of planning our wedding at the moon palace and I stumbled on this forum - I tried reading the forum from the start but there is sooo much information :) so far it has been incredibly helpful (and a little scary to see what I might be up against with planning a wedding in Mexico)

Were planning on getting married February 2010 - just waiting for the resort to confirm our dates...

If anyone has any helpful pointers for getting started I would totally appreciate it :)

Amber

OMG...I know. We just had our bridal shower last weekend, and it really sunk in that our wedding is three months away! I have so much to do!!! I'm hoping a WC will contact us a little early - I really still have no idea how I want to organize stuff with a reception.

This whole 1pm ceremony thing is really stumping me. I don't know where to put the reception!!! Eeps. I keep checking the website to see if anyone cancels and I can move up a bit...no luck yet!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
