Well I just have to start by saying "MARLY TOBON TOTALLY ROCKS" she is the most amazing wedding coordinator. The Palace Resorts are blessed to have her.

Marlyn,Carolina in the miami office and Nancy My wedding planner in mexico are the DREAM TEAM LADIES believe it.

I have been through so many high and low times plainning this wedding and these ladies held my hand from the first sound of stress in my voice.

I found out that two of my guest booked w/ a TA who works with the palace
people. Some how that didn,t get add to my Rooming List because the TA didn, tmake the connection and both guest booked for FIVE NIGHTS.

Then I had a girl friend book she booked 3 so today at work Yes I had to hussel and come up w/ 2 more nights. So my honey's friend book and now I have 18 Rooms 75 Room nights which means now I really do have unlimited parties and one free week.

Now we can (shake-shake-shake )shake ourbunny_4.gifbunny_4.gif

Just wondering how your group contract was coming along?? We have a deadline for 50% of our total room costs to be paid for by April 24 and I'm a little nervous about this. Did you ever find out what happens if you don't make the 10 room requirement??
Hey MsLeblanc,

My contract is coming along - thanks for asking! We went with a outside TA to arrange our contract, so we don't have to cancel rooms in our block until May 17th if we need to cancel any. There should be a similar kind of clause in your contract, probably regardless of who made it.

If I don't make the 10 room requirement, which now I will because everyone staying off the resort will now be staying on, the contract is canceled, however, the TA said the people who had already booked would still get the group rate. Our 50% deadline is April 5th - so I am really pushing people who have RSVPed yes to get their payments in!

For anyone else who was wondering, I got an email back from my WC about the day passes. Children and infants do count. The daypass is available for the day of the wedding - and for all day - but not for any other day. It sounds like daypasses can only be purchased for the one day. That was why our guests decided to just stay at the MP. It is 20% of your wedding guests too - not the total guest count of the hotel.

Good luck LeBlanc...keep us updated!! One of the things I did was made free postcards on vistaprint.com reminding people about the 50% date, and mailed them all out a few weeks ago. It's really helped people get on the ball.

I just emailed Nancy asking about the nights versus rooms and she told me that it is the number of rooms booked not the nights. I have 16 rooms booked for over 75 nights but I only get the cocktail reception.

Did someone at MP tell you it was nights versus rooms?
I think it depends on your contract and who made it up. I used an outside TA, and my contract specifically states either nights or room numbers for all tiers of free stuff!

We had the Mariachi Band for our ceremony pre & post and paid for the Mariachi Band to entertain at the Cocktail Reception following the ceremony. Worth every penny . . . they sound great are very entertaining and friendly with guests.

I don't know if there are any other live band options. If you are planning on keeping your festivities shorter, then go with the mariachi band the entire time, but if not I would suggest using the self-serve IPOD option. We did this for our private dinner on the terrace and it was spectacular (I would also suggest splurging for the lighting)

Best of Luck

Hi Laura

Marachi band..is that an outside vendor? If you dont mind me asking- How much did they charge?

I am considering having them during the cocktail and ceremony..

Thanks for the info. Lighting is a major thing. My Fiance is in the entertainment industry-Lighting and Music are key!

Hi everyone! I haven't been on here in a while, but we are finally booked at MP April 23, 2010. Just signed contract and my WC, Claudia, contacted us via email... Very exciting now that it's booked! Thanks everyone for the great posts, although my wedding is over a year away the posts are so helpful. I look forward to chatting with other 2010 brides since we're basically all in the same boat here just in the beginning of the planning. I did choose the Amber Collection and that's as far as I have gotten!

Hi Ladies,

Pete and I have always wanted one of those lopsided cakes for our wedding. I asked my WC last week if MP does custom cakes and she said that they do. We sent in a picture of what we are looking for and are now waiting on a quote for our cake. I'll let you know how it pans out; I have a feeling it is going to be more than we are willing to pay but its worth a shot.

I also asked if they have a cake knife or if we had to BYOCK and she said that they have one that we can use but that its not fancy.

Just wanted to share the above - we are actually getting married by the Justice of the Peace tomorrow. Scary.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
