Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Jodi - I am emailing you pics right now - I don't have any of the chapel by itself so far but I'm still looking! I'm emailing you pics of us so you get an idea of what it looks like as far as colors and set-up. We went through a TA but my sister went through travelocity to book her trip and actually ended up w/ a better room than us! We had about 30 people there. Honestly being married in the gazebo is almost like the beach, you have a perfect view of it, its literally right out the window - without the wind!! Good Luck! Hope my pics help!

Thanks for all the helpful information!!! I do have a few questions, such as does anyone know the benefits of my guests going through a TA? Looking at prices using a TA cost the average guest about $250 more. Is is bad if I just suggest to them to book through Travelocity, Expedia, etc...? I do know that they have to pay for it all at once using these companies.

Also, I am a little confused as to why we have to pay so much extra for a reception or cocktail hour if all guests are staying at the Moon Palace which is an all inclusive. I just signed my contract and don't have that much planning time but was just curious about some of these questions. I am sure I will have more. Thanks again for being part of this group.

Hi Leanna,

I think most people use a TA because they provide a bit more info for guests and help you keep track of who has booked...also I went with a TA because my guests had the option of putting a deposit down and paying off the room in installments. The rate I was given was the same as the prices online and direstyl through the hotel, so as far as I know there shouldn't be too much of a difference. Also, our TA is helping to make sure that we're all in the same area of the resort since MP is really big.

I read somewhere that they charge extra for the service...it's different if you all go and eat in a restaurant vs. having them set up at a location and pull staff to serve etc...hope that helps, and congrats on your wedding!

Betsy Thanks so much for emailing me so quickly. It looked gorgeous just from those few pictures! I am confused.. If I was to book through a TA then do I miss out on getting the "free packages"? Thanks again for your help! I am hoping to book by the end of this month..then the fun really begins..!

Hi everybody! I thought I would comment on Jodimichelle's questions because I JUST met with a TA and had all of my questions answered.

I think going through a TA is a great choice for a few reasons: They are the point of contact for your guests. They can research and find them the best rates available, customize the trip, and best of all, if there is a problem, your guest can call the TA and not make it your problem (For example, if their flight gets cancelled, your TA can fix it). Our TA is compiling an excel spreadsheet of all of the dates our guests are travelling, and she will give this to us so we know when we can expect everyone.

In order to get the free cocktail hour or reception, you HAVE to sign a group contract directly with Moon Palace. (That means people who book on Travelocity aren't part of the group). I'll see if I can attach the group rates I received from the resort.

You can still use a TA if you do this. The hotel gives the TA a link and group # to book through. My TA says it is a wonderful option, not only for the free perks, but because all of your guests will get booked on the same side of the resort (There are over 2,000 rooms so it's gotta be huge). They will also be recognized as a "wedding group" and *might* get some free room upgrades.

They expect you to pay for you and your fiance's room in order to secure a block of rooms! Hope this helps!

As long as everyone books through the same company then you can also get the freebies. We are working with a TA, but if someone wants to go with their own TA and books with the same company as everyone else then that will count towards your group. We are all booking with Sunwing, but not everyone is booking through the TA we have suggested.

The chapel gazebo is the very last "tour" you can look at.

Also has some other cool virtual tours as well - like the disco, one of the ballrooms, the golf course, the kids club... ect.

Great find!! Amazing :) This makes me even more excited to go!!! I want it to be here already.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
