We have a clause in our group contract that states that 50% has to be paid by April 5th, so I am nervous that people aren't thinking about it. Our invites just went out though, so hopefully people will start thinking about it more. We'll see. If we don't end up having a lot of people, we will probably just do a shorter cocktail reception with dancing, not a full on dinner! I always figured I'd just do the ipod system - Matt's brother is pretty 'hip' or whatever - he should be able to pick some good music for dancing!
Hey, so there are two options with the room block, one you pay your room or part of the room block (I recall it was 10%), so we just paid for our room cuz it was cheaper, that way, the group contract is in effect until 45 days prior the wedding.

As far as how along are you, well my wedding is in 69 days and i only have four total rooms booked (including ours) and we were expecting 30 rooms booked. I am not happy about that, but what I am REALLY Not happy about is how people have complained non-stop about how expensive this all is to them and how selfish of us to have this wedding etc when all along we have paid for every single thing for the wedding.....I will stop digressing, but all i'm saying is crap happens just try to not let it get to you and you have a lot more time to go.... so don't worry too much.

Cutierosie - I'm sorry people are being whiny! I've really not had too many people complain about the price, which is fortunate. When we went to a destination last summer in Jamaica, it was MUCH more expensive. How long are you having your guest stay for? And if you don't mind me asking, what is your rate?

I feel like people don't think it's expensive UNTIL they go to book their flights. THEN it's like OMG. I agree - but, I did just have two friends find flights for 299 round trip each.

I think with our block option the only option we were given was to pay a certain amount of the total block, because I remember we paid 1750 deposit. However, it all went towards our stay. Thanks for the encouragement, and I hope that things get better on your end! I've just resigned myself to the 'whoever wants to be there, will' philosophy.

Anyways, does anyone know the specific companies that the MP uses to book excursions? You know, at the counters down in the lobbies? I really want to check some stuff out before I get there if possible!

Thanks!

Hey, so they have this website for the tours and if you need more info there is a contact person to answer your questions, apparently, you have to wait until you arrive to book stuff included in the palace promotion, but if you want something not in the promotion you can book in advance, so here's the info:

Thanks!!
Emily
Hey Emily! I have the group promotions. I went through Tammy Host, and she really worked that group contract for me! She's awesome! When I saw your post, I got a little worried...so I checked Orbitz for package deals, and it looks like it's about the same price in the long run. A double is a little cheaper on Orbitz it looks like, but you don't get all the free perks that we have in our contract, like free excursions and airport transfers, etc etc.

We really haven't said anything or given any information about booking in a different way or at a different hotel. If anyone does, it will be because they do it without us knowing, which I hope wouldn't happen. I think pretty soon, within the next month or so, we will start calling people and asking if they have any questions personally, so hopefully that will help head off any of that as well.

Good luck!!

So, I got a room block for 6 nights, and told people to stay as little or as long as they wanted, but that 3 would be good so they could get the promotion. I got the rooms for $422 per night via miami palace office.

I notice you are in Wisconsin, and you said you had friends that booked flights round trip for 299, are those flights from MKE to CUN? if so, with what company? i'm asking because my fiance's family is in wisconsin, and if flights are for 299 that is info we can pass along to them.

Thank you for your help!

Hey Cutierosie, my room block is only for three nights, but the rate is good for 3 days before and three days after my room block as well. We got the double for 368 per night.

So, the flights would have been from Friday, July 17th to Monday the 20th. I'm honestly not sure what airline it was, I'd have to ask my friends, but I'm pretty sure they were out of O'Hare. I'll find out and get back to you!

Hey there! Our family is coming from Wisconsin and part of our group got flights out of MKE. The flights vary in price by which days you choose to depart/return and also if you're willing to have a connection. The difference is hundreds of dollars per ticket! Flights out of MKE for the end of March are around 345 right now returning on a Mon but the price to return the day before that are 548! The ticket price also varied hundreds of dollars day by day. Someone in our group got their tickets for 405 on a Saturday and the following Monday the prices were back up to 700!

We are also working with Tammy Host for our group contract, $368 for a double. We are leaving Thrusday, July 9th and flying from Denver. I found roundtrip tickets on aol.com for $311 each. We also have some pple flying from San Diego and Hawaii, but I'm not sure how much flights are for them. I am also worried about our guests booking on expedia or other travel sites for discounted packages. Did you girls put info about your TA on your invitations? One more question....does anyone know what the honeymoon package includes?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
