I know!!! I only have two people with flights booked - no one besides us with rooms yet. I feel like I should be WAY further along than that - I'm trying to resist the urge to start badgering people. We have a clause in our group contract that states that 50% has to be paid by April 5th, so I am nervous that people aren't thinking about it. Our invites just went out though, so hopefully people will start thinking about it more. We'll see. If we don't end up having a lot of people, we will probably just do a shorter cocktail reception with dancing, not a full on dinner! I always figured I'd just do the ipod system - Matt's brother is pretty 'hip' or whatever - he should be able to pick some good music for dancing!

Today is our RSVP deadline and currently 50% of our guest list hasn't so much as responded.

Those that we knew were going to attend booked in October when we did (a whole 9 people including 3 children)... Sadly its only my side. With the exception of one or two people, its pretty safe to say that they aren't going to attend. It boggles my mind how some of the girls on here have 30+ guests attending.

I agree DWandMJ!! I am nervous because we haven't even sent out our invites yet! But we have told everyone, so they have been saving (lets hope!). No way would we beable to get 30+ guests!

Nibsmom, what happens if you don't get your 50% by the deadline? I am still working on the group contract so I don't know how that all works yet.

I'm not really sure - I know that if we don't get enough people though, it says on the contract they might consider voiding our group agreement. I'm not really sure what happens then! *stresses* Our group contract is for 15 rooms, and I'm hoping we'll be able to make at least 10, so that should be enough! As we get closer, a lot of people I assumed would be staying in doubles and bringing guests are ending up coming single and rooming with other singles, which is cutting down on our room count.

I just realized that very silly me forgot to put an RSVP deadline on our invites, so I am making some postcards on VistaPrint (they are FREE right now! For 100!!!) to get that information out and let people know about the payment deadlines. So hopefully, that will help. I hope I'm just stressing for nothing!

Hey Ladies! I just remembered something I've been meaning to ask! I think I've been forgetting for days...don't you hate that??

Anyways, does anyone know the specific companies that the MP uses to book excursions? You know, at the counters down in the lobbies? I really want to check some stuff out before I get there if possible!

Thanks!

Nina C.

Is anyone qualifying for the group promotions? If so, which ones? And was it super hard to get guests to book as part of the group rather then them going off to sites like expedia and booking at a cheaper rate? How were you able to sway guests away from doing that?

Thanks!!

Emily

Dana C tha DJ's not so bad. he's 1,265 bucks for 4 hours and you get lights and a real disco indoor reception setup w/club lights 2. You also get a "Hype Man" to announce the wedding party on entrance, to hype the guest ,call the table numbers for dinner and all that jazz. I spoke with the dude that takes care of the DJ stuff and it Sounds wonderful.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
