Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Hey Ladies!!

So I just heard back from Maribel, and the videography is $160 per hour after the end of the ceremony. I just wrote her back to ask if that includes a DVD as well- I'll let you know what she says.

Sorry I didn't get back to the questions sooner but after posting I awoke the next morning to a vicious ice storm (Tuesday morning) and have been without power ever since...I'm actually at my aunt and uncle's at the moment. I'm hoping that my power will return sometime next week. I've been living like a nomad nearly since I've returned from Cancun and I'm ready to be HOME.

I'm not sure about a more detailed review. My wedding was VERY intimate (only my new husband and myself) so I didn't have to worry about a lot of details...basically the only focus was on THE WEDDING. As a matter of fact, after the ceremony and pictures, my husband and I went back to our room and changed into swim suits. :) We had our wedding dinner at the Italian at the golf course at 8 pm. I'm just not sure I have a lot of details left to add. :)

The gazebo was the Tucan. It was my favorite. It was also the most private since it was closer to the end of Nizuc. We did have some trouble with people trying to cross the beach when we were in the middle of the photo session rather than simply going around us and our photographer had to stop several times to either wait or ask people to go around. I can't imagine trying to do this in an even busier area. Another problem was the fact that the morning of our ceremony, a "caterpillar" was on the beach close to our site moving around sand...made a mess. While the work had stopped by the time we were getting married, the sand in that spot didn't look "pretty" so we were limited in the area where we could take pics. It turned out okay though.

My flowers were included in my package. I used the "tropical" mix that comes free with the packages and then chose the shape I wanted. I do wish that I'd asked them to add a few colorful roses into the mix but they were still beautiful.

Another suggestion...I know the petals are an additional $35 per bag BUT they make such a splash in a few of the pictures. If you aren't planning to bring your own freeze dried ones, splurge on the petals.

Hi Liz,

In order to have the Catholic ceremony, you will need to complete and meet all the requirements of your church. For example, we had to go to this "engaged encounter" weekend and attend 3 or 4 classes during the week. We also had 2 or 3 sessions with the Deacon. He then completed all the paperwork and handed to us, which we then sent to an address other than the address on the Palace Resorts website. That was a big mistake because it took almost 2 months for me to track down if they had actually received our documents. So, I'd advise sending the documents to the address that is listed on their website or ask your WC for the address.

The main thing to note about the Catholic ceremony is that you have to be married prior to the ceremony as the ceremony is not a legal one. So, you can either get married at home and then go to MP or you can have a civil ceremony quick before your Catholic ceremony. That's all I know about the process thus far - the biggest hassle was all the classes that we had to go through to get our "certification."

Thanks for the information cutierosie. I had been working with Yudekla so this is sad news as she was great to work with. First Father Gouraud leaves me and now Yudelka. I have the worst luck!

I woke up this morning with a couple questions that I am hoping a past bride or someone who has been to MP before can answer.

1. I've heard a rumor that MP has "top shelf" liquor such as Grey Goose. Is this true?

2. For the private reception, do the bride and groom sit at a "head table" or do they sit among the guests at one of the round tables?

Thanks,

Camie

Dana, Ugh! I guess I'll have to work that videography into my budget. Well, maybe not, since we're waiting to see how many people we have attend before we decide about how formal the reception will be. Eh, whatever.

Camie, I'm pretty sure the website says they have top shelf liquor - I'm not sure about specifics though. Maybe one of the brides who recently got married there will be able to tell you, or your WC? Also, I would imagine they would set up the reception how ever you want it set up. I can't see them forcing you to sit where they tell you to, you know?

Hey girls,

Its official...I finally signed my contract! We are set for the free symbolic ceremony and then we are going to add some optional services. I also ordered some great save the dates and invites from greetingcard village. They fit great into our starfish theme. They have awesome prices and Sandy is so nice to work with!! Here is the link:

Nibsmom- I know! I'm thinking of using the ipod for music during the reception instead of the dj just b/c having the videographer for the reception and ceremony will be about $1000 bucks...yikes! Yeah- I definitely feel like so much depends on who ends up coming, and it's so hard to be patient and just wait to see, lol!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
