Hey girls!!! I'm new to this board/wedding planning! I'm not new with MP(we have visited them and that's why we picked the resort), but am having some issues with group booking. Have any of ya'll done group booking? I have the contract, it looked vague to me but in good faith not like they are intentionally trying to screw me. I was going to sign in and get everything going but then my sister-in law who is a lawyer(God bless her) looked it over! Now there are like 15 items that need to be changed. I know she is trying to cover our butts, and I'm super blessed to have a lawyer in the family, but have any of ya'll done a wedding w/o a group booking. Or do any of ya'll have any suggestions. I'm worried they aren't going to change the contract bc its a general contract. I'm totally OK with not signing it, especially if my sister-in law suggests we don't, but just generally worried that this is "easy stress free wedding" is going to turn into a uphill battle!

My fi is also an attorney, and he went nuts when he saw the MP contract. We're actually booking the group rates/block separately with our travel agent and then trying to do the other contract for the ceremony package on our own. That contract was unbelievably vague and basically read as: "you pay Moon Palace $1800 and they'll give you a package named 'XYZ'...". No details about the package, except the cost and that they could change anything and everything about it whenever they wanted. The thing that scared me the most, was that they wanted us to pay 100% of the package before we even spoke to a wedding coordinator! Needless to say, we're still working out our contract with them (e.g., we revised their contract entirely and faxed it back to them...still waiting for a reply). I hope to hear back this week and get everything finalized.

 

The group booking through our travel agent seems to be very easy, but we have not been involved, so I couldn't be sure about what she's gone through. If you want to see the rates she's giving us for a 10-room block, just let me know. I'm happy to share.

 

I have talked to several other destination brides and this kind of ambiguous contract is pretty much normal. That didn't really make me feel any better...but seeing the feedback on this resort here on this forum, quells a few of my nerves.

Thanks for the contract info! My biggest issue is I want to get STDs out ASAP!! Im waiting for the group link to put in the STDs, other than that we are just sitting on them. Starting to contemplate sending the STDs then mailing an accommodation info card later. Our STD has our website which has accommodation info, including the link as soon as we get it.

If you definitely have your wedding date/time locked in with MP, then I say go for it with the STDs! I think it's fine to send out more information to your guests as you get it. Depending on how you do that...it could get pricey with all the stamps.

Hi! I'm really worried about my hair appointment. I have an early wedding on January 21 (my fiance wanted it as early as we could get it...11 am) and my hair appointment is at 8 am that morning. I'm planning to show up with my hair washed and dried already to save time but I've heard about wedding salon appointments taking 2 hours to complete. That would put me at 10 am with only an hour for dressing and makeup before the wedding starts...and I've also heard that you should be ready about 30 minutes before wedding because of various reasons...getting there on time...pictures...flowers, etc. I just hate to be rushed (and sweaty) when I'm getting married!

 

My question is....what would YOU do? It doesn't show that there's a wedding scheduled after mine on the website...actually the next wedding seems to be 4 hours later so I could likely change the time for an hour later without much fuss. Remember, it's just me and my FH so I don't have to worry about already have the time on invitations, etc.
