Hello! I am new to this site. I am getting Married at the Moon Palace on June,3,2009 at 6p.m. I have been there once before but it was 8+ years ago. My parents go at least once a year and assure me I will LOVE IT! I am so nervous about the planning. I have signed the contract for the wedding date, and booked the trip for the both of us, but only 2 other people have reserved rooms. We plan on having at the least 10 guest total.

We Plan on staying on the Grand Side of the Moon Palace. Just the two of us, and the other guests will be staying either on the Sunrise side or the Nizuc (spelling?) side. We are unsure of the distance from the different sides. Does anyone know how far it is from one side to the other? We are staying on the Grand side to keep it more personal. I don't even know what the Grand side looks like, and I can not find any photos of it. Do you know of a way I can see photos of it?

I guess I can not start planning any of the wedding until 3 months prior to the wedding? Is that how it is with everyone else? Do you feel rushed or is it ok?

How are you getting your dresses to Mexico??!?!?

What is the groom wearing? How are you transporting the Tuxes or etc.?

Gosh I feel like there are so many questions! I am so excited, and so glad I found this website!

Good luck to all you other Brides!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!feedback.giffeedback.gif

The Grand side is closer to the Nizuc side. I stayed on the Grand side and my guests on Nizuc and it worked out nicely. You can always take the golf cart ride over or the bus ride over to the Sunrise for dinners, etc...

The Grand side is beautiful! I will try and post pics soon.

If that were the case, then why on earth is the crucifix (sp?) removable? I've read about a number of other people having their non-catholic weddings there and I'll be pretty upset if I miss out on the opportunity because my Miami Sales Coordinator isn't provided with the same information that others were. I'm not particularly partial to the arch in either of the other two gazebos, so the chapel is ideal. And don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the Miami girls, because I know their hands are tied, but it will really piss me off if the two other ceremonies being held on our wedding day get first choice of the ceremony location because they were given more complete information.
I dropped an email to Marlyn requesting to be put into contact with a coordinator in Cancun because the majority of the questions I have can be better answered by them, and she stated that she submitted a request. Did you call Cancun directly to make your reservations? Or did your S.C. in Miami set things up?
Hello Bride-to-be,

Catholic Chapel - I have read that you can use the chapel even if your ceremony is civil. If this is not true then this will ruin our plans as well.

We are hoping to have our civil wedding in the Catholic Chapel Gazebo - Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Our hope was to have our ceremony in the Catholic Gazebo and then possibly a chapel garden reception.

I feel the same way, as I am not partial to the other gazebo's - if this is the case we may have our ceremony like Andrea's on 12-29-07 - their ceremony was on the terrace (you can see it on another post)

We are getting married on January 29th, 2009 and are still waiting to hear back from our Resort WC.

Can anyone help as to how I can speed up this process? (as we are ready to plan)

Thank you

For anyone that has wed or will be wedding in the chapel gazebo, were the white pew covers included? If not, what do they run?
I agree - we would much rather stand infront of the alter table. Standing behind is bad for pictures and seems awkward. Can you request to have the minister stand behind the alterhuh.gif?

I am not a fan of the pews as well and would prefer the white chairs (as they can be decorated) Is it possible to have the pews covered? If so, what does it look like (does anyone have a photo)? & What is the cost?

We're doing the same thing with Tamm's in that we're booking her a night's stay the day before and the evening of the wedding and doing the TTD/honeymoon shoot the day after. I'm planning on booking her accomodations through expedia as it comes out to $365/night, which is cheaper than what the resort charges at $380/night.

I hadn't realized that you were a fellow Canuck. I'm in Calgary!

Hello fellow Canadian!

I did hear about the 10pm restriction - which sucks, but we really want to take advantage of our surroundings! We would love to have an outdoor reception - now I have read that sometimes they will let you have your reception goes past the 10pm point (but I am not certain)

I truly hope this is not the case, but if it is, we are going to use this time for our guests to head back to their rooms and freshen up and meet back at the discohuh.gif?

I am going to request through my WC that we have our extended (keeping my fingers crossed)

Tamm's Photography - your expedia price is great - I am going to look there. Are you letting your WC know that they are coming or are you going to keep it quiet and just say they are guestshuh.gif

Thank you =)

When do you get married?
Ok how were you able to book all of your details.

Our wedding in January 29, 2009 and I have been told who my WC is and I have emailed her but nothing back yet.

We know all of our plans, we just need to set them in stone - any assitance with this would be much appreciated!!!

What are your plans? What is your wedding package?

What is the extra hours for the reception? We are hoping to have a private reception and would love to book an extended time past the 10pm cutoff - Can you offer any assistance with this?

Thank so much!!!

Did anyone have any trouble bringing their photog on grounds? Any tricks that worked in the event they give us a hard time about our 'guest' toting around camera equipment?

The more I think about it, the more the idea of having the resort's photographer take pictures for only 45 minutes bothers me.

We have hired Tamm's Photography for 2 nights and 3 days - terrific package.

We are booking the husband & wife team as our guests.

We have also booked the Deluxe Package - which includes photography. Based on your post - Can I assume that there will on be 45 minutes of pictures?

If so, we are glad we hired an additional photographer - as we would like shots of the entire day and evening.

Laura,

This is what I had emailed Marlyn (our Miami WC):
Hi Marlyn,

I had a couple of questions for you. I will hiring an outside photographer, however they will be staying at the Moon Palace as our guest for 2 nights. Will this pose any problems or conflicts with your outside vendor policy?

Also, our Deluxe package includes a photo & video package. I wanted keep the videographer for the weddding, but since we have our own photographer, can we use the photo package for a different function like the welcome dinner?

And this was her response:

Hi Janice,

Yes that would be fine if your photographer comes in as a guest. Itâ€ll also be fine if you choose the photo package for your welcome dinner.

So it would appear as if all is kosher with the resort. I would suggesting sending a similar e-mail with your WC to make sure you have it in writing so as to avoid any problems at the resort.

This is the route we're taking, and I think by providing samples of specific shots/style, it should turn out nicely.

Enjoy!
Wow - terrific link

We have chosen the Deluxe package which will include some of this photography. As well we hired Tamm's Photography and having them stay as guests for 2 night. It is a great deal!

Thanks so much Melissa. I would love to see pics! So how did you like the grand side? How are the pools and beach? I heard about the golf carts, but I was not sure how that worked. So you can drive them yourself or a worker drives them? Can you get them at any time?
THANKS!!!!
Sally

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
