I'm a bit disappointed with the way they do things, we have the superior package, which includes a bridal bouquet, some flowers for the ceremony, photo package and cake. They free bouquet pictures provided by the WC didn't look like what i wanted, so i asked if I can use the price of the free one towards a better bouquet, the answer is no, you cannot use the value of any of the free stuff (which is not really free, you pay for it in the package) towards other products. You can choose to forgo your included things and buy a new bouquet for $240. Same goes for photo packages and cake. Had I known, I would have done the free package, and purchased my own stuff on top of it. Oh well, thought you girls should know.
Pookie - words of wisdom from someone not only much older, but someone who is also doing the whole package deal (and is an accountant) :o).

Write down everything you have included in the Superior package and its cost - write down everything you want and its costs - compare the two -- call your WC in Miami and see if you can keep the date and time and change the kind of ceremony to the free civil. She will tell you yes and send you a new contract and refund you everything you have paid so far. I know this part from doing it myself. Then, let your WC in Cancun know everything "you" want. They have to do it your way if you do this - not theirs. You will pay for it yourself when you get there. I started out with a package and then didn't like what there was in its entirety, so just recently I have changed it to the free package. By getting the "free" package I am able to purchase things that I want, not because they come with it, but because I want them. In my case, the cost is just a little more, but I am happier. In your case, you may even get it just a little cheaper and be happy :o)

Everything is still available to you - you will just have the liberty to chose. You being a member do not need the massage and stuff because it is already included.

Just words of advice! Don't get discouraged - it is your day and you should have everything you want. :o)

Good luck. Or.......you can do it Dez's way and throw holy hell their way :o)

What's funny is that before I picked the superior wedding package, I basically did what Nicole suggested. I figure out the price of each item I wanted indicidually and then added them up. Of course I wanted everything, and it was a better deal to get it in the package..so we went that way. I KNOW we'll be adding and upgrading things when we get there too.

For those who want to drink past the time you paid for - it is all-inclusive :o) Have it in your program or something - they can take it some where close by and the drinks will continue to come to them.

Thanks girls, I've given up on the photo package (I dont really care, we have two friends who take great pics) and the cake (after reading the "what I would and wouldn't do again" thread, it doesn't seem like I need a big cake anyways), but I am battling my WC on the flowers. If we do not agree on the flowers soon, I will take your advice Nicole and change my package. At this point I would prefer not to make too many changes, so I think we can work the flowers out. I will keep you updated, thanks for the support and the advice.

Dinner comes with 2 hours of open bar, cocktail hour is an hour of open bar, you have to pay extra per person per hour, I think they quoted me $5-6 per person per hour for additional dinner open bar. We are having our reception until 10 and then going to andromeda disco when it opens at 10:30.

Hi Ladies,

I am going with the free civil package. (I have 22 people coming).

We are getting the large cake.

I am bringing my own silk flowers- the woman here in Buffalo did a great job! One calla lily for each BM, a bouquet of hydrangeas, lilies and orchids for me. Only the groom will get a boutonniere. I will bring them in a carry-on duffle bag. The cool thing about them to is that they don't really smoosh... if they do, a little fluffing and they'll go right back to the shape they were in.

I am getting the horse and carriage ride for me and my Dad to arrive at the ceremony in.

We are getting photography A for $280 which includes 36- 4x6 pictures, one 6x8 picture and an album. We don't know how this works, but we were thinking of buying the cd of photography as long as it has every single picture he takes on there (meaning more than 36).

We are getting the free cocktail hour because our guests booked 10 rooms, so I have to find out what that entails. Anyone know?

We are most likely having our free wedding dinner at the Los Caporales. (Anyone know anything about it there?) I think it was Dez that told me she thinks they put you off to the side, so you are away from other people.

So, that's my wedding there. I am having a reception in Buffalo, so that's why we chose to go this route.

I would love any comments or suggestions!

Thanks,

Melissa

Hi Melissa,

I was told the cocktail party consists of high tables and chairs, your choice of appetizers (from their list), location of your choice (from their list), and drinks for 1 hour. If you want music, you will have to purchase the sound system package which I believe is $204. Anything that you have purchased for your wedding i.e. flowers will be moved to the location for you. If you have a cake, it will begin at your ceremony and will be moved to your dinner location unless you specify wanting it at the cocktail. Our WC suggested, due to the heat, we should just have it moved to our dinner locale. We are having our ceremony at the Chapel gazebo and the cocktail party in the chapel garden right after the ceremony and before the dinner - the chapel area is absolutely stunning!

Dinner.....you will be some what seperated from the rest of the restaurant. If you are having 20+ people Los Caporales will not work - they say only up to 10 people. I have the restaurant listing and amount of people you are allowed to have at each if you are interested.

I have recently received a bunch of information from the resort if anyone is interested in more details.

Take care.

I would love some more information if you do not mind. I am having 25-30 people and would love some ideas from you. Also, since you are getting married in July are you at all worried about the heat? Are you having your reception outside?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
