(lori, i'm not saying *you* specifically)

what a lot of people forget is that we (teachers) also don't get paid for the 2 months we have off...we get paid for the 10 months that we do work. and a lot of teachers have to work menial, minimum wage jobs to stay afloat during the summer. this past summer was the first that i didn't work, and i regret it.

it's also not an 8-3 job. lately i've been at school from 7:30-5:30 and there's a lot of emotional labor that comes home with me. i feel like because we don't make money, we're not respected by a big chunk of society (the whole "those who can't, teach" thing...) i was just emailing my teacher friends to ask them if they feel less respected as each year passes. anyway, more of a rant (offtopic2.gif) than anything...sorry!

My title is National Sales Manager for a smaller company that is in distributor to the sign industry. We have about 25 employees in total but I love it here. We are like a big family very close and most of us have worked here 7 or more years. Iâ€ve been here a total of 13 with a leave of absence of 8 months tried a different path and hated. My income is mostly 95% commission and the 5% is because of the title. I make any where from 72k to 85k depending on the overall sales my team does. It could be more just depending on the sales.

I'm an analyst for a market research company that does mostly all internet surveys. I basically create the surveys, test them online once the programmers are done and create a report in ppt with charts using SPSS for the analysis. I love numbers and thinking of different ways to cut data. I have been in market research for the last 2.5 yrs and love it, my first job out of college sucked and so did the pay and less than three years later i was able to double my salary!!

Im an RN in Ontario. My pay aint so bad, but I have to deal with a lot to get it... Im in the middle of the pay scale so Ill pull in around $65000 this year and I dont do any OT. I work DDNN, five off. All 12 hour shifts 07-19 or 19-07. Lots of weekends and holidays. ICU is a fun place to work, and it keeps me outta trouble, but after most shifts, its all I can do to drive the hour commute home and pass out. FI makes around $80000, so all in all especially with the economy the way it is right now we're not complaining. Plus we have no debt (not counting the mortgage).

OK, so i had to pick the none, stay at home mom, but i'm not really. (unless staying at home to play and sleep with kitties counts!). am making $0 this week and last week I made approximately $22.50. I am trying to leave one job (where i'm making nothing since it's all commission) and find a new one. The job hunt has not been successful for me but even as "full time" at my current job last year i made less than $15,000. I am amazed at how much money the women are that took this poll. That's totally what I'm after.

At least FI makes a lot, so he pays for my stuff right now (mostly). It's the most horrible feeling in the world and it's driving me absolutely insane. I'm getting pretty desperate here and might try for a seasonal job!

Very interesting thread.

I'm a free-lance court reporter, and I make 6 figures a year. I love my job. I work, on average, three days a week out of the home (traveling to law firms or courthouse to report legal proceedings). This allows me to be home more with my kids; although, it can be tough being self-disciplined finishing the work I need to do at home. It is a full-time job (40+ hours a week), but I like being home more than I would in a typical 9-5 office job.

You could easliy make 50K a year working a couple of days a week out of the house in the SF Bay Area (don't know about other areas-business varies by region).

I do live in the San Francisco Bay Area, though, so cost of living is quite high smile35.gif.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
