The Gallery Inn changed my contract-now out of price range

Recommended Posts

I agree, don't sign that new contract. Since the U.S. controls Puerto Rico it may work in your favor, just because I'm thinking if it was the DR or JA somewhere we didn't control they could give you the shaft and what can you do...but can you threaten these people with the BBB or Attorney General or something? If they can vote for our President they have to follow our laws, right BDW lawyers?

Not that it makes you feel better because with your wedding so close you shouldn't have to go around threatening anyone...so sorry.

Let us know if we can help, I'm also down to call/email/raise hell for you...and they don't want NYJen & I giving them a piece of our minds :P

Oh Jamie!!! What a mess! And I'm sorry - that is such a crappy thing for them to do so close to your wedding.

But I agree with what everyone has said. If you have a signed contract in place, they are obliged to support it unless it specifically states that prices are subject to change.

Chin up. We're pulling for you!!!

As everyone else said already.. DO NOT SIGN that bogus new contract. If you and FI signed the old one already-then it is binding. Unless there is fine print that says that prices can change without notice then him doing this one month before the wedding is absurd and rediculous. I'm so sorry that this is happening to you! I htink that owner may be bluffing becuase for $1400 he may lose the entire thing. I think people know that sometimes as a young couple you will " do anything" to make the day work. Stick to your guns!

Oh girls, I am so upset! There is no fine print stating the terms could change. I'm afraid to threaten them because I don't want the wedding ruined by a jilted owner. I work with several lawyers and they also said my original contract is valid. I sent an email (so its in writing) to the owner explaining my heartbreak and that we can no longer afford them. So far she has not responded but I am hoping we can remedy this. If not, then beware the fury of BDW and a bride scorned! We had requested an amended contract based on the final head count. Originally we reserved for 50 but have only 30 confirmed guests at the final count. The coordinator said no problem....

According to FI, the coordinator ran off with one of the musicians. Coordinator was the owner's niece and the musician is married. Owner is angry and has banned them.

Do you have all your coorespondence with the coordinator via emailhuh.gif If so, have you shown it to the owner? They need to make good on this. Don't take this lying down.

Can you have one of the lawyers you work with write something up on letterhead to scare them a little?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
