Chicago Botanic Garden?

Has anyone been too the Chicago Botanic Garden? DH and I are planning a trip to Chicago for our anniversary and I was wondering if it would be a worth it to stop there. Also if you recommend it, how many hours do you think it would take to go through it?

BTW, we leave for Chicago in June 4th, not sure if that will make a difference, maybe it would be too early for most flowers to be in bloom.

hey tammy :)

the botanic garden is beautiful. i especially love the japanese & english gardens. as long as you are driving here, i say its fine to go - just because it's a bit of a drive, its about 30 mins north of the city with no traffic, but theres currently major construction on the main highway you'd need to take, so it could take up to an hour. if you do go, i would say dont spend more than 2-2.5 hours there max. theres a lot to see but its owerwhelming and its a LOT of walking around that will poop you out quickly if you do too much. i love the indoor greenhouses as well. i grew up just a few miles from there so ive been many times.

Maura, is there a trolly or something that can get us there? We are taking a train into Chicago (well From Michigan city into chicago) and are staying in a hotel about 2 blocks away from Navy Pier. We are only going to be in Chicago for a few days so I'm not sure if they have limited transportation on a weekday.

I love love love the Botanic Gardens! I do not believe there is transportation from the city to the Gardens (it is actually in the town of Glencoe). So if you will not have your own transportation may need to save it for another trip cuz that would be an expensive cab ride. But once you get there they have a tram tour to show you around the Garden in a more timely fashion.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
