Moms- what to pack for the hospital???

I would say some comfy shoes, which I'm sure you already have with all of the swelling. I suggest your own bath stuff, a robe, a couple of pairs of comfy pajamas, a lot of undies, make up, stuff to make you look pretty because you'll have lots of guests and you want to look good in your photos. :) Did you get a pedicure? Strongly suggest getting one if you haven't already. If you have long hair some ponytail holders and/or headbands.

Also take some magazines or something to read in case you are laying in bed for a while. Also, take some breath mints!

Good luck and congratulations on being a mommy! You'll soon find out what all the excitement of being a mom really is AND you'll meet your one true love. There is nothing in the world that can compare the bond between a mother and her son. It is truly amazing! smile03.gif

Thanks for all of the replies!

Ann~ how funny you responded! After your experience, I am lucky that I can think this through and pack what I want to!

Jenn~ his name is Austin Michael.

SO many people have said the pillow thing! I don't consider myself a "picky pillow person", but I think we'll take them and have them in the car just in case we want them.

Found some slippers today to fit my huge feet (which better go down REAL soon!).

I'm dialated to 2, and will be induced Thursday morning at 6:00 a.m. That is, if he doesn't come tonight! After having the exam today, I've been having more Braxton-Hicks, and some other "weird" feelings going on! He'll be 1 day shy of 38 weeks. I'm starting to get a little nervous, but not as much as I though I would be at this point. I think it will hit me when I get to the hospital!

Nobody mentioned bringing the laptop~ thinking HARD about that one! May need to bring it just to finish report card grades!!! I'm sure the hospital has wireless! wink.gif

oh we are bringing the laptop too, but I don't know how much I will get on it, certainly not to do grades, my sub is taking care of final grades for me.

I will more than likely sign on to the forum though.

my friend from prenatal yoga told me by the second day she was so sick of the hospital gown that she changed into nursing gowns, she got them at motherhood maternity

I think something like this Motherhood Maternity Clothes - Affordable Maternity Clothing and Accessories

I am packing my bags this weekend so I might go pick up a couple of these

I've heard differing thoughts on this~ some say just wear the hospital stuff to get them dirty, and others say bring your own. I'm thinking I'll want my own, with a back to it! I went to Motherhood last weekend, and got this one: Motherhood Maternity Clothes - Affordable Maternity Clothing and Accessories, I like that it has a robe with it! I also got one like the one you posted (but in blue polka dots), and a gray one I didn't see online. A few weeks ago, I picked up a couple of pajama "sets"- so I'll have something decent once we're home if people come over. One of them is this one: Motherhood Maternity Clothes - Affordable Maternity Clothing and Accessories.

I just can't believe that I'm going to be a mommy tomorrow!!!!

P.S. Hoping the majority of the grades will be done today! :)

I'm thinking Kevin might give me a hard time about the laptop (although if he gets bored sitting there at some point (since he's so ADHD!), he might appreciate being able to look at boats (his fav online activity!). I'll go with that justification when I say we should pack it!

Do you already have a sub lined up? Are you still working? When do you get out of school? My kids' last day is Tuesday, and report card pick-up is next Thursday. That's why I need them in by Tuesday.

I work for another 8 days but the kids have until June 20, graduation day. We don't start until after labor day and go an extra four days of school for state testing in VA, its annoying to get such short summers but o'well.

My sub is the person I took over for last year, so that is going to be nice since she was a teacher for a long time and then retired. We meet next week to go over the plans, but I will only be gone the last 11 days of school.

Thanks for the links on the gowns, I will look at them this weekend, I agree that it might be hard to ruin something that's brand new but honestly for $20 which most of them are, I would rather just wear something I am comfortable in.

It was nice having my own gown...but there's a high chance of it getting stained etc...hospital pillows have this gross stale smell to them..not terribly offensive but not welcoming either...I was just ready to go after I had my daughter...no pain meds...no stitches..but I was soooo hyped up from the adrenaline that i couldn't sleep until I was discharged the following day...it wasn't till I got home that I slept like a log! Go figure...when I had the oportunity to be out of it in the hospital I couldn't sleep...everyone told me the sleep in the hospital was the best sleep..I'm still waiting...

Check to see if you hospital have internet keyboards in the room. I didn't bring my laptop because I think I spend too much time on the computer and I wanted to take a break from it. But my hospital did have high speed internet access through the tv and a computer keyboard in the room. I used it briefly just to check the tvguide listings.

I also just used the mesh hospital panties while I was there because if I used my own, I would have had A LOT of bloody underwear to bring home... no thanks. I did use my own pajamas though on the second day because I hate those hospital gowns. I didn't bleed through my pj's. I also wore pj pants just because I'm more comfortable in those.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
