Dorys Foltin Make-up Hairstyling...Honolulu

Recommended Posts

Hi Jess! I was just admiring your slideshow (again)! I know--isn't it fun to have two weddings? My wedding in Cabo was a little bit stressful (long story). So I am really looking forward to our legal wedding and honeymoon in Hawaii.

Did I miss your review and photos?

It was really nice to have a private legal ceremony with just the two of us...I'm sure you'll enjoy it too. I hope you will share some pictures!! Dorys Foltin's website looks really nice.

Jessalyn,

My review is the Jtds2713 Cabo Wedding Review. I have not received my photos from Juan yet (being patient here...). I did not really relate the stressful part of my wedding-- too personal for a public forum. Some guests had misbehaved but not during the wedding but the day before. It affected me so didn't really sleep well the night prior to the wedding and I was tired during wedding day. So I am repeating the wedding! Haha!

I thought I remembered reading your review, but didn't remember the stressful part.....I think we all have some level of stress during our wedding(s)...mine was a finger that needed stitches...ha! I'm sure the private second ceremony in Hawaii will be much more relaxing!! I'm jealous...I want to go back to Hawaii!!

We need to tell Juan to hurry up with your pictures.. :) ...he is a very busy man!!

Hi Jessalyn,

Had to run out yesterday to pick up someone. Yeah, I am being patient about my pictures. He said he is doing the best he can. No worries here though. As long as they are beautiful. Oh well, at least I have the Hawaii legal ceremony and pictures to look forward to! I knew about your finger. YOu seemed cool about it. I would have panicked! I love your wedding pictures. You looked amazing! Jonathan did a wonderful job!

Hi Hawaiian Bride,

I can't give a review of Jacque Rojas yet. Our legal ceremony is in August 7, 2008. One of the reasons I picked Jacque was because she uses make-up from different lines (Make-up Forever, Clarins, MAC). Dorys I think uses her own line. Jacque also does a lot of the make-up for fashion shoots (Pacific Rim magazine, Modern Luxury Hawaii). Dorys is mostly weddings I believe. We will be shooting outdoors a lot (7 hours!) so I thought Jacque would be better for me. I will be able to give a better review after the wedding.

Here's my review:

I seriously want to cry everytime I think about the experience that I had.

So I read all these great reviews of Dorys everywhere, like 50 of them, I had not seen a single bad review of her...

So I scheduled and did a trial... no problems.

Big day arrives... Dorys was supposed to do makeup & hair on me and one BM. Her assistant was supposed to do makeup and hair for two BMs. We talked about how I needed to be finished first by so and so time so the photographer could take my getting ready pictures- and she agreed. I emailed her again a few days beforehand to remind her.

Her assistant was slow, and ended up taking the entire time (almost 2 hours) working on one BM, so Dorys did my hair, then ended up switching to do the other two BMs hair. By then we were running really late, and I told her that the photographer had to go downstairs in 15 minutes. She said "Ok, so what does that mean?"

UGH!

To make a long story short, she had to rush to finish my makeup and hair. The photographer had left and I didnt get take any getting ready pictures.. which makes me really sad. She probably spent a total of 30-40 minutes on me, which was upsetting because I paid her $150 to do my makeup and hair and $100 per BM- and one BM got worked on for almost 2 hours!

She let me check my hair in the mirror before she sprayed my curls in and I noticed that a lot of hair wasn't curled so I had to tell her two times to re-curl those areas... By then, it was almost time so she quickly sprayed it even though I wasnt happy with it. I feel like if she would have spent the hour or so that she was supposed to on me, my hair would have held better during the rest of the day. Instead, it went flat in less than an hour!

Also, she glued on my eyelashes in 3 dots rather than gluing the entire lash... so one fell off after I cried. Luckily, one of my guests had glue to fix it.

My makeup was good, but my hair didnt hold for more than an hour... but the worst part is that I will not have any getting ready pictures. =( I can never do this day again so it just makes me really sad when I think about it.

Oh dear... So very sorry about your experience with Dorys. I know what you mean when you say a wedding comes only once and this day will not come again. I had the same experience, I was crying a lot the day before wedding due to some incident with someone in our party and on the day of our wedding, I did not like my make-up because we ran out of time and we rushed the make-up. My hair was beautiful but I am obsessed about make-up! Then my photographer was not able to do those bridal silhouettes of me (we all forgot!)

Perhaps you can have a wedding vow renewal someday and you can wear your wedding gown again and have getting ready pictures? We are having a legal wedding in Hawaii and I am wearing my gown again. But I will probably not have getting ready pictures but I want those bridal silhouettes!!!

And I am sure your wedding was beautiful and you were beautiful on your wedding day. All brides are!

Best to you!

Jess

    • Hundreds of years before, the basic jewellery were made out of seashells and bone, trees and animal skin. In the ancient times, the Egyptian jewellery first came into existence. Egyptian culture inhabited technology, gemstones, and precious metals early in comparison to other places. They were inspired by the culture of royalty and aristocracy which led to thinking noble like having a deep appreciation for luxury. This made them create impactful jewellery and leading trends. Copper was the first metal that came into existence through which we as humans got so many jewellery items.  However, the major focus on jewellery came when they discovered gold. This allowed the Egyptian to rule as the first jewellery maker. The ancient Egyptians valued adornment and were worn by both men and women.  Material and metals: The plethora of material which was used in the making of this Egyptian jewellery was basically gold and silver. Egyptian has mostly attracted towards gold and the availability of silver was less in Egypt as compared to any other place. The colour variation was due to the mixing of elements such as alloys like copper, iron, silver into gold.  Charm jewellery: It was then also an interesting concept to have charms in necklaces, bracelets and other jewellery items. It’s just they were made up of stones and precious or semi-precious jewellery. In this picture above the necklace is adorned with precious stones in different charms shapes. Gem and stones: The more royal pieces of Egyptian jewellery were adorned with the precious jewellery items. The gemstones were semi-precious stones, precious stones are other various gems. The most prized stone were lapis lazuli, rock crystal, and pearls. Emeralds were also found in these jewellery pieces. These were made from ground quartz and then molded into expensive gemstones. They are also used as charm jewellery when molded or carved in different shapes.
