Okay, so we're going to have a large list of guests we're inviting to our wedding. Not all will be able to make it (around 250 guests will be invited) so we're having a reception back home later that month as well. We're wondering if we should have a memorable party favor for our guests that come to the destination wedding and that's it (since they did spend a nice bit of money getting there) or if we should have 2 different party favors. 1 for the destination wedding and 1 for the guests who attend the reception back home.

Also, some good ideas would be greatly appreciated as to what we can get/make the guests, as we are on a budget.

I'm having the same issues with my wedding. I'm giving the guests that go to Mexico a welcome bag with a mug and other little goodies so I don't think I'm going to give out favors at the wedding. However, our placecards are mini maracas with each person's name on them so they will be able to take those home as a small momento.

Where is your DW? That might help you get better feedback...

I am doing OOT bags for those who come to the DW and for our AHR I am going to buy lottery tickets for the guests and attach a poem about being lucky in love! I personally dislike getting "favors" that have the bride and groom's name and date all over it cause I can't really use that in my day to day life. I figure with the lottery tickets I am spending $1 per person and someone could walk away with some serious cash!

We are ding OOT bags for our wedding. So everyone who comes to mexico will get a well stocked gift bag. We're thinking the bag will double as our favor, as they are going to end up being a bit of $$ probably. But we figure people are spending so much money to be with us, we should show our appreciation.

As for our AHR, we haven't decided what to give as a favor yet. I like the lottery ticket idea... :) I'm gonna add that to my list of ideas LOL

I'm also doing OOT bags for my guests, and my guest seating will be attached to maracas for them to take home...I'm not doing an AHR...

I think you could something like OOT bags for your guests that come to your wedding, and then something small that symbolized where you got married for your AHR, so if you got married in MX, maybe mini maraca pens from Oriental Trading?

We are having the same exact issue as you are with the DW wedding and then the AHR.

I think that we are going to do the OOT bags for the DW wedding and then get luggage tags for placecards which will double as favors.

Then at the AHR I want to do something but it will not be so formal as it will be in the back yard at my parents... so I was thinking of something that will not bee too expensive. I also like the lottery ticket idea!

for my at home reception (AHR) I did little packages of seashell chocolates. You can buy the chocolates or make your own with chocolate molds. I bought mine on boxing day for crazy cheap (1,50$ for 20 chocolates!) and even though they are 6 months old they are still super yummy

I was gonna wrap them in tulle but the tulle circles I got weren't big enough, so I used plastic instead (which was better anyways in case they melted)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
