Just wondering if anyone out there is doing one, or has done one. I am looking on some help as far as wording for the ceremony. I have something in mind but drawing a blank. I don't want to sound too cheesy! embarrest.gif

Here is one I copied from the internet involving children:

You can use different colors of sand for each individual (and even different vases if you wish) which are then poured into the one large container representative of your family.

_______________ and ______________, today you join your lives together. These bottles of sands of various colors symbolize your individual spirits of you and that of ____'s daughter_____. Each container is unique, representing who you are. As these containers of sand are poured into a third larger container, the different colors will join together to form something quite beautiful. You are joined together today, not only in marriage, but as family.

(After the sand is poured, the minister may bestow a blessing. It can be as simple as follows or something more elaborate.)

May this marriage and family be harmonious and blessed from this day forward without end.

Here is one just for the couple:

Officiant: (Bride/Groom) and (Groom/Bride) now come forth to seal their relationship through the mixing of the sands. Just as two lives together now join to become one, so will the individual sands become one as they are poured. It would be impossible to separate these sands, just as it would be impossible to separate (Bride/Groom) and (Groom/Bride)'s lives after today. This covenant is a relationship pledge between two people who love each other heartily and who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives.

Officiant: Now we shall celebrate this union as it is symbolized through the pouring of two individual containers of sand. One represents (Bride/Groom) and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be. The other represents (Groom/Bride) and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As the two vials of sand are poured into the third keepsake vase, the individual containers of sand ceased exist as they are now joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual vases, so will the love and bond between the two of you render you inseperable.

Just google ... there are tons to choose from .... or get a good idea of what you would like.

Good luck

Here are some other options for you:

Sample Sand Ceremony - 1

"Today, this relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand one, representing you BRIDE and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other representing you, GROOM, and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be."

Sample Sand Ceremony - 2

"BRIDE and GROOM, today you join your separate lives together. The two separate bottles of sand symbolize your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends. They represent all that you are and all that you'll ever be as an individual. They also represent your lives before today. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be."

Sample Sand Ceremony - 3

"Today, BRIDE and GROOM, have chosen to commemorate their marriage through the celebration of the Sand Ceremony. This ceremony symbolizes the inseparable union of BRIDE and GROOM into a new and eternal marital relationship. Bride and Groom will simultaneously pour separate containers of sand into a common vessel. Each grain of sand in their separate containers represents a unique and separate moment, decision, feeling or event that helped shaped Bride and Groom into the separate and unique individuals that they are today. As they pour their separate containers of sand into a common vessel, those separate and independent individuals will cease to exist. Instead they will merge into a loving and supportive marital community. BRIDE and GROOM, just as the grains of sand can never be separated into their individual containers again, so will your marriage be."

Sample Sand Ceremony - 4

"OFFICIANT: Please note this empty glass. Glass, itself, is made from sand and the sands of time have come together, melting into one piece to make this vessel. The sands of time should remind us all of our eternal love and our mortality. Today BRIDE and GROOM have chosen to represent their love to each other in a special sand ceremony. Please BRIDE and GROOM, take your separate glass of sand and alternate the pouring of sand into this joining vessel and united, repeat after me: You are my love for eternity. I blend with you. My heart is like these grains of sands, merging with yours. I am yours. You are mine. We are together forever like the sand, like the wind. We are one."

Ok gals this is what I came up with last night... I added in some stuff from what you guys sent today. What do you think? Is it too wordy and repetitive?

Miriam and Omar have chosen to conclude with the celebration of the Sand Ceremony. Through the exchange of vows and rings they have made an everlasting commitment to one another to share the rest of their lives together. By participating in this Sand Ceremony they are symbolically demonstrating their understanding of the union of their two separate lives as one and entrance into this inseparable union and eternal marital relationship. This covenant is a relationship pledge between two people who love each other heartily and who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives.

The two separate bottles of sand symbolize their lives as individuals. Each grain of sand represents each moment, decision and event that has shaped them as individuals so far. Far more important than their individuality is now the reality that they are no longer two but one, never to be separated one from the other. As they pour their sand from each bottle into the third, (Pouring of the sand into the bottle begins) their individual bottles no longer exist; the grains of sand are joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual bottles, so will be their marriage. The life that they each have experienced individually will now be inseparably united, for today two have become one. May this marriage be harmonious and blessed from this day forward without end.

Nice.

We did a Hand Ceremony just before exchanging our vows during the ceremony.

We did the Sand Ceremony just before cutting the cake at the reception -- and we didn't have anything read with it. We just had everyone gather around and we poured the sand in. Kept it simple.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
