Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

That's what I keep hearing too, that its really windy. I am thinking the petals will blow away in the wind! I wonder about the aisle runner, if that stays down on windy days....Does anyone know if you have to use the red one? Our package says it includes a red one, but, I don't want red at all. And, I've seen posts about adding the sound system for the ceremony cause of the wind, is it really that windy up there? We have a small group, and half of them are in the wedding, so, I'm just contimplating if I should add it or not.

Yes, it is pretty breezy up there.  During our WC meeting, we opted out of the corsages, so she asked if we wanted aisle petals instead, but I asked her "won't they just blow away?"  She looked at me and smiled and nodded "yes".  As for the carpet, the red one is included, or you can pay $80 for a white one (likely to pay the cleaning fee).  The carpet is pretty heavy so I don't think it will blow away.  We just decided we didn't want a carpet and saved the $80 because we didn't want the red one either  :)

And as for the sound system...you definitely need it during the ceremony..unless you plan to yell.  :)  We had a small group too, only 23 of us, and there was no way our guests would've heard anything without it.

I wanted to add something that I forgot to post in my review...I'll go back an add this in.  We had one child at our wedding and the 3 children's menu options were a burger, chicken fingers or mac 'n cheese.  Our nephew wanted the mac 'n cheese, but don't order this.  Go for the burger or chicken fingers instead.  The mac 'n cheese was literally a huge plate of penne pasta covered with nacho cheese, the kind you get on nachos at a baseball game...not so good.  Our 3 yr old nephew is not finicky so he was actually eating some of the fish and shrimp that were on his parents plates and didn't really touch the mac 'n cheese.

Hi! We are getting married at the gazebo - I want to put silk flowers on the carpet leading to the gazebo....Has anyone done this? I guess my question is, is it too windy? Will they just blow away?

Also, we reserved the honeymoon suite, any idea what this room looks like? I can't find much info on it....

Thanks a bunch!!!

The Honeymoon Suite is actually more complicated than it seems.  There are two different types.  One is one floor with a bedroom and dining area and I think a little more square footage than the standard ocean front rooms).  The other is two floors, two balconies, two bathrooms, with a bedroom on the bottom and a couch and I think dining area on the top.  Both suites are facing the gazebo in the pyramid building.  I found out about this the hard way.  I had been talking to a bride who stayed there and she sent me pics (which if I can find, I'll send them to you) of the two floor suite.  We fell in love and booked it.  Later on, I was looking at reviews on trip advisor and other places and noticed some brides described the honeymoon suite as one floor.  Then I looked at Dreams website and noticed thier description didn't say two floors either.  Then I looked at sites like expedia and apple and noticed some said one floor and some said two floors.  Finally, I started finding sites that had two honeymoon suite categories, both with the same description but different prices.  Finally I called Dreams and was informed there are two types and you have to request the one you want at booking.  Luckily I contacted my TA and she got them to confirm in writing that I will get the two floor suite.  So if you want the two floor suite, call them ASAP.

I remember one bride here saying she was disappointed in her room and thought she was downgraded (she ordered the honeymoon suite), but I really think they gave her the one floor honeymoon suite instead.  Hope this helps

We had the 2 floor suite for our wedding/honeymoon but be careful because we did pay extra and our voucher said "honeymoon suite" on it and when we got there they stuck us in a regular room.  I had seen pictures as well and knew one of the suites had 2 floors so I kept saying that is what we were supposed to have and they changed it right away.  I as well didn't know there was another honeymoon suite.  But we LOVED the 2 floor suite it was amazing, it had a great view of the gazebo in the pyramid building and so much room to get ready the day of the wedding.  I think our room number was 5241 because I think there are only 4 of those suites on the end of that building.

Does this mean you will still work there for people that already have a contract with you?  I hope so, because we would be heartbroken if we lost you.  We were very excited the day we met you and were so impressed with your work that we decided to have extra services with you. Please look for an email for me.  Please know I am sincere when I say that your video is one of the things we are most excited about.  I have been talking about it for months to my friends and family!!  We hope you are doing well!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
