Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

Hi Briannarae23,

I wanted to ask about the rooms at Dreams. I am in the process of choosing between Now Jade and Dreams Cancun, but I am nervous my guest will notl ikethe dated rooms. How was your experience?

We loved the resort! We stayed in the honeymoon suite- it was 2 stories, plenty of room, huge bathroom for me and the bridesmaids to get ready in, and a gorgeous room! Didn't bother me one bit that the rooms weren't as up to date as other places. We had a great wedding and a great vacation!

And none of the guests cared one bit- the ones who spent a little extra to upgrade from the garden view. We were hardly in the rooms anyways, and it's not like they are gross, just not "luxurious"

I agree too, I think the rooms were great, very clean and roomy. I don't think there is bad room to get at Dreams, they all have either a view of the ocean or they overlook the dolphins. I guess they are simple but I wonder what people are expecting the rooms to have that would make them better? You're in Mexico, who spends a ton of time in their room is what I'd like to know! haha

There is a past Dreams bride that brought some tall cylinder glass vases there and I asked Claudia about them and she is not charging to use them. All I am bringing in my suitcase is fake green orchids and a flaoting candle for each centerpiece. I am also bringing 25 starfish with me. I will leave the 25 starfish with Claudia for any of you brides to use while you are there. I will also leave the green orchids behind as well. Here is what my centerpieces will look like but with GREEN orchids.

PS this is a really tall vase in the picture. The actual vase is half the size lengthwise.

That is good to know that we will not have to pay to use the vases !

Our guest list is growing! I was hoping to keep it at or below 40, but we're at 38 with several "probably"s. I was kind of bummed out because this means we won't get to have a plated dinner, but after reading some of the posts in here...it sounds like the advantage of having a buffet dinner is there are more options.

For those of you who chose to swap out the cocktail hour for more guests at dinner, were you happy with your decision? I read somewhere else in this thread that the guests can just go hit up a bar somewhere at the resort until the dinner reception begins. What do you ladies think?

XO,

Abi

We had 44 guests and swapped our cocktail hour for dinner.. It worked out perfect. All of our guests went to a bar and hung out until it was time for the reception. My husband and I didn't miss anything while we were taking pictures. Also, we were still able to have a plated dinner. The only thing I would suggest with that is get rid of the dessert.. We didn't but ended up asking our DJ to move forward before it was served.

I agree with Briannarae...the rooms are not "luxurious", and I personally do think they could use a little updating...but are absolutely clean and comfortable with amazing views. We did a site visit last fall and stayed at Dreams, The Royal, Beach Palace and I must say, the bed at Dreams was the most comfortable and the room we stayed in had an unobstructed view of the sea (due to the hotel's unique location). We loved that. From my limited experience, the other hotels had views of the hotel pool and the beach and sea beyond that (if that makes sense). Anyway...hope this helps along with the other girls' input :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
