I am worried about this as well, we are working on getting our date set, but the only one that is left on dec.1 is at 2pm. This makes me worry because I wonder how many other weddings will be going on that day and where their receptions will take place. We dont want to spend 3000 on a wedding package and not get the area we want !

I am so upset that the reason that I cant have the club terrace is because all of my guests have booked Ocean Front Deluxe rooms and are not in the towers. Apparently you need to have 70% of your guests in the club tower rooms. This is really unfair and I have a signed contract with the location of Club Terrace written in. There is no disclosure of anything subject to change etc etc etc. Not ok at all. I spoke to my friend that is a contractual attorney and she said if their are no disclosures in your signed contract then they can not do this. She will be contacting them tomorrow. I am sooo upset. There is no other location I want and my wedding is 10 weeks out from Friday! They have not even updated their website that this is not an option.

I'm so sorry! They told me the same thing! Claudia said I could have my cocktail hour on the terrace, but not the reception and that i needed to have 70% of my guests in the tower. So last month I emailed her about my cocktail hour being held on the terrace and her reply was that the terrace wasn't available unless I had 100% of my quests booked in the preferred tower! I'm really confused. I hate how they make rules up as they go. At this point I may not even have a cocktail hour? I asked about the spa terrace and her response was that in order for me to have the spa terrace, it had to be after 8pm and it would cost me $200 more! So ballroom it is for me I guess?

It definitely seems that this rule about guests having to book tower rooms in order to use the patio for the reception is quite new.  I wonder if tower guests have been complaining that receptions are keeping them up at night?  Regardless of the reason, if your contract says the terrace then I think you will be able to force them into allowing you to use it.  (Just like when they switched the photographer but had to allow brides who had already booked to have Juan Navarro)

I would sit here and tell you how wonderful Himitsu beach was for the reception, but that doesn't matter when you have your heart set on the terrace.  Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for your words of encouragement. My travel agent is contacting Claudia's boss today. It is not her fault and told me it has been a nightmare for her. I feel bad but u can't have a contract and back out when there is no disclosure written that wedding places are subject to change. I also have a friend that is a lawyer that reviewed it. I know it sounds crazy but that terrace location is one of the big rea:(sons we picked the resort.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
