Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

When you say "legal ceremony" do you mean that if if we are getting married in Mexico to make it legal all the witness siging, etc. has to be done "DURING" the ceremony? I thought they do it after? I'm still debating whether to get married at a JP before we leave to save on $ or wait. We are arriving the 4 days before to make it legal, but seems like a lot of work for something to go wrong. Any advice would be great!

alot of people do it "secretly" befoerhand because of the blood tests, and translations and everything else that you have to do to have a legal ceremony in mexico. not to mention the stuff you have to do when you retrun here. you can do a symbolic one at dreams and no one would really know the difference - still have the signing of a certificate. we are getting "legally" married before our dreams wedding - some people opt to do a symbolic ceremony and do the "legal" thing in the court when they return....i really think its much less work and stress to do it here before or after rather than have to stress about all that other stuff that mexico makes you do!

im a michigander too....where about are you??

yay michelle cant wait for your review!!! :)

shanbeth, yes they do the "legal" stuff during the ceremony. the ceremony is performed in spanish and translated and they have you and four witnesses sign and fingerprint several documents, so i would definately have songs prepared to fill the silence, lol! the blood work is done beforehand.

a lot of brides do chose the legal ceremony in Mexico, but I personally couldn't imagine dealing with all the translating documents and blood work AND being there four days before. FI and i wanted to have our HM be longer so we are getting there 2 days before the wedding.

I'm from Decatur, Mi. About 30 miles west of Kalamazoo. How about you? Your wedding is much closer! How are the plans coming? Are you getting stressed yet? This website has helped me a lot, but I'm still figuring out how to get around good. Would love to hear about your dreams wedding!

Great review! I'm so thankful for all the details everyone provides!
Thank you! I didn't order the flower it was sitting in a vase in the salon and I said "i want that flower" so they cut it out and stuck it in my hair :) The makeup held up perfectly and I was dripping sweat at the end of the night! I am so glad I had my makeup done.

Ladies - You must have heard some horror stories about legal ceremonies...I had a legal ceremony and it was so easy. The blood work took 5 minutes. The ceremony is not in Spanish as others have said...ours was in English and I wrote the entire ceremony and the judge read the script and added in the legal pieces where needed. You could understand her. The documents are in Spanish, however I have filed for a new SS number and got my drivers license with the Spanish document and I have had absolutely no problems.

Its a personal choice. However, if you are hesitating because you think its going to be a lot of work or your affraid of all the logistics you shouldn't worry about that stuff at all and just do it! I personally wanted my wedding day to be my wedding day! I didn't want 2 different days...for me it was a big deal to know we actually got married a different day than when everyone helped me celebrate.

I promise you it was so simple you would be shocked! I wouldn't take it back for anything :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
