Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

I have a question about the Dreams of Love and Dreams Ultimate wedding packages. One of the restrictions says "Subject to availability & double occupancy only." What is this referring to? Is it in reference to the total # of guests that you have at your wedding reception? It'd be great if someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!

oohhh...great tip! would've never thought about that on my own relief.gif

this Dreams bride had her reception outside in the spa area and loved it- there are some great pictures in the review that show it off nicely. Theres a really great pic of her and her DH dancing on the water fountatin, lol.
Hey there! Hmmm....i can't seem to get to that link.

Here's another link of garden pics that I found from another post:

I'm actually surprised the garden would be one of the last locations to be picked by most brides. Is there a certain reason? I'm considering the garden because I want my guests to feel comfortable when they're dressed their best and not have to worry about the sand getting in their shoes. And grass is considered a natural air conditioner so I figured it would be comforting against Cancun's hot/humid nights. Based on the pics above it seems pretty private with a gorgeous ocean view. Thoughts? I'm starting to feel confused now undecided.gif

Oh! And is the Club Terrace the same thing as the Spa Terrace?

the double occupancy refers to the rooms, I'm not exactly sure (without looking at the packages) which part of the package that is referring to, but double occupancy is definitely the rooms.

Club Terrace is off of the tower and also adjacent to the garden area, the Spa Terrace is on the other side of the resort, in the spa area.

I had my cocktail hour in the garden and loved it, but I think people may shy away from it for the reception either because they don't want to rent a dance floor or maybe because it is kind of right out in the open, so it's a little less private than the other options. The tower side of the resort is fairly private anyway, so I don't mean there would be a ton of people joining your reception, but it is sort of out in the open.

To those of you who have booked your wedding, I have a question.

What has your experience been getting responses and information from Dreams? I'm feeling a little frustrated because I've e-mailed and called and can't get ahold of Cecilia. I realize it's the holidays however the WC at the Marriott has been AMAZING. She e-mails me sometimes when she thinks of something I might want to know and today she just e-mailed me pictures of the new beach there without me even asking. She always responds within 24 hours sometimes quicker. I know I shouldn't choose a resort based on who the coordinator is but I know at the Marriott I would get taken care of and I wonder with dreams with so many other weddings going on I know she is more busy so it's harder to get information.

Thoughts?

A lot of the brides on this forum have done that and said it worked out wonderfully. I exchanged the cocktail hour for 15 extra people at dinner since we are having 43 guests and only 20 are covered in the package. The price I was quoted for dinner was $42 + 15% service fee + 10% tax so a total of $52.50 per person. Hope that helps clarify.
Hey! So if you skipped cocktail hour was your reception immediately after the ceremony? I was planning to have my pics taken with the photographer as other brides have done during cocktail hour. But I also expect a large guest count and would love to be able to do the exchange as you have done.

Andim -

I have had similiar issues with Cecilia - but as many of the past brides have said...Cecilia really executes to exactly what you want. The communication up until the day you get there isn't good but once you arrive she ensures that everything is absolutely perfect. Its hard for me to let go of that control of not knowing how every detail will be but in the end it has seemed to work out for every bride who has gotten married there.

i've had the same issues as well. we went on site visits and one WC was very quick with responses before we got there, but i didn't feel comfortable with her in person. on the other hand, Cecilia (and Claudia for that matter) are really hard to get a hold of, but in person she's AMAZING!! she really knows her stuff and will do anything in her power to make your wedding everything you want it to be. so, i've just learned to relax and let go b/c she really delivers and you can't beat the view!!

Very hard to get in touch w. them... BUT AMAZING in person. I would still email your requests so they have them on file. As the dates get closer, im sure they look over ur file because when i got there, she pretty much had eveything down what i wanted... Im telling you- you will make changes even when you get there! :) Cecilia is awesome. I also called her a few times- that helped a lot. Many general questions u can get answers on here though and I realized that after I bombarded her w. questions.

Yes, dreams has a lot of weddings going on, but thats because they are the BEST! :) they really do know what they r doing, they do so many weddings! Hope this helps.! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
