Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

also lindsey (not sure if it's been mentioned here since there aren't many legal dreams brides), the signing takes FOREVER lol! i was able to time it on the video and for ourselves to sign in triplicate and THUMBPRINT, and then your 4 witnesses to sign in triplicate ... it was literally 7.5 minutes of our approximately 15 minute ceremony. i had NO idea it would be like that, and would certainly have chosen at least one song to play during this time had i known! our family/friends looked sweaty and bored to tears, lol!

Ok guys, I just got married on December 17 2009. The wedding was great but there were definately some issues. I will be writing my wedding review and will post the full details.

The main issue was with the officient/priest who did the ceremony, her name was Roxane Fernandez. If you want your wedding to turn out descent, I will avoid Roxane Fernandez. She did the entire ceremony backwards and had no clue what she was doing. I was extremely upset with her. She made us sign the wedding certificate as we stepped into the gazebo. She did not even introduce us to the party. Then she made us put on the wedding bands without reading anything!! She never told us to face each other and hold hands, I figured we had to do that when we were exchanging vows. The wedding was great but the ceremony is one of the most important part and she really really screwed that up. I was absolutely furious with her. She did not even showed up to the rehearsal. Furthermore, we were running a little late and she saw an opportunity to ask for money by saying she had a wedding in half an hour in the Mayan Riviera (which is clearly a lie because our ceremony was at 2:30pm and she had a wedding in the Mayan Riviera at 3pm? How can that be possible if she had to drive there and do our ceremony?). I will post her photos if I have any so no other bride can feel like crying after her ceremony.

Cecilia Rangel was great. The flowers and the decorations at the ceremony were amazing. She did a two-storey cake for us instead of the one-storey that came with the package. She gave us extra flowers, sand ceremony set, etc. She has a 6-year old daughter who is absolutely adorable. I recommend any brides to take a gift for her little girl as that would be a good way to start the planning session.

The video turned out great too.

We flew Critsey Rowe and Thomas Geist to do our photography. Here is the link to our TTD photos: Selina + Erick = Mexico Wedding | Charlotte Wedding Photographer - Critsey Rowe

Critsey Rowe is an unbelievable person and a great photographer. She went above and beyond and did way way more than we expected. She even acted as a bridesmaid and a coordinator when needed. Critsey and Thomas made the wedding very enjoyable and the photos are definately worth it. I think photos last a lifetime so it was a great choice we made. I will be doing a full review on Critsey Rowe and Thomas Geist.

Anyways, I really wish if anyone had a bad experience with the priest/officient that they had told me. So I thought I would let the new brides know. I don't know if she has ever done a wedding before? Even I knew some of the basics sad.gif

Keslea, congrats on being a mrs!!! Thanks for the info, I've been worried about this for a while b/c like you said, the ceremony is soooo important. I'm sorry you were so disappointed. I think I might have to add this to my budget and get an outside officiant! Can't wait for your review!

Btw your pics are gorgeous!!!

selina, i'm sooooo sorry to hear you had problems with your officiant! i don't even understand how something like that can happen since they have a script to read. did you do a symbolic ceremony? that is just terrible. it makes me sad to hear that any part of a bride's day isn't just perfect. in the end you're married to the man you love tho, right? love.gif hug2.gif and OMG your pix are AMAZING!

i will say that i don't think the officiant ever attends the rehearsal there. i wish mine had as well. we did a legal ceremony, and apparently the judge showed up with a few options for his speech which he obviously only had my soon-to-be hubby there to choose from. so what did he do? he chose the one that looked like it had the LEAST STUFF FOR US TO SAY. gee, thanks, haha. that is really something i would have liked to have been a part of the decision-making process on!

i was also very nervous that the officiant wouldn't come over to us with the mic (that we paid for) and no one would hear our vows. he was standing like a mile away off to the side, reading from his script, and we had to wait for him to scurry over to us just to say "i do" into the mic. on the video you can see me with this very nervous look on my face bc he was so far away and kinda waving him to come over, hahahahaha it's ridic. i still don't understand why he couldn't just stand behind us the whole time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
